The clip uploaded here lacks credits (among many other things). I just wanted to mention the music was composed by the extremely talented Tero Saikkonen (http://www.terosaikkonen.tk/) who is also a member of this board.

Hey guys, with my entry for ITOOFC#4 (can view film here > http://www.indietalk.com/showthread.php?t=8766) I need some help keying (to which I am new and have not been successful with). Below is an example shot. The jpg compression makes it a little inacurate compared to the raw DV. I...

    The mac mini.

The Mac mini is fine for editing standard definition footage. Make sure to add an external FireWire hard drive. If you get it with 512MB or RAM that is enough to get started with FCP, but you should max it out (1GB) if you are going to use it in conjunction with other software at the same time...

editing Quicktime error -50 on FCP when exporting mpeg 4

I don't know what to say about that. You have to upgrade to QT Pro to use FCP/Compressor, etc. That's definitely what causes the error. FCP 5 automatically updates QuickTime to Pro when installed. I don't remember about FCP 4.5. I remember earlier versions asked you to upgrade before you...

editing Quicktime error -50 on FCP when exporting mpeg 4

No. Now that you mention that, sounds like we solved the error. You need QuickTime Pro to export/compress video. What version of FCP are you using?

editing Quicktime error -50 on FCP when exporting mpeg 4

Open the file you want to compress in QuickTime. Choose "Export" from the "File" menu. There choose mp4 as the format. Configure your export settings (in your case choose the preset).

I use only the Panasonic Master tapes (AY - DVM63MQ). The five pack is a pretty good deal. I didn't realize they were this popular, although I may know why Steve is using them. ;)

    Hard drive disassembly

I was just tempted by the idea since I do have access to a Clean Room. I also do need to recover the data from the disk. I will most likely send it off to a pro data recovery center. I called a few and have been quoted up to $1900 for the service (after a discount!). Have to shop around a...

    Hard drive disassembly

Here's a question... Does anyone know anything about taking a hard drive apart for the purpose of replacing its platter(s)? Besides obviously needing a Clean Room, I'm interested in how to actually take the drive apart and to safely remove the platter(s). There seems to be a shortage of good...
