movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

I have seen: Rendel, a Finnish superhero film. I did like this one a lot, really brutal and stylish and funny too. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3881026/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 4/5 Metropolis, 90 years old silent b&w film that still is really good and interesting to see. Altough this longer edit drags...

    audio recording advice

I recorded test footage in the middle of the forest, so no background noise like fridges etc. The mic was close to the actor, about 10cm from the actor above him. How ever I did continue testing and the t.bone mic doesn't seem to be good enough so I went ahead and bought a Rode NTG2 + dead cat...

[Nov 6] What are you working on this week?

A first day of shooting to a short film. So many endless technical problems but I did at least get some results. Also 3 years from previous shoot, so I think I'm just a bit rusty.

    audio recording advice

Yes, Budget gear has it's limitations, but now the main reason was that extra stereo track. Much better result after that one was removed. Thanks for advice.

    audio recording advice

Hello, I have a new project and we were testing today the equipment. I have Tascam dr-40 recorder and t.bone EM 9600 microphone. The mic was in the mic stand just above the actor. But the problem is that with this equipment I still get noise. I did record at tascam level 50, it was around -30...

archived-videos Noire: trailer- dark, action, drama

+ Some of the shots are really good and also image composition. Also it has nice feel of neo noir or even cyberpunk from time to time. - Out of focus start : don't use unless you will use it as title background. I wouldn't take technical feedback too seriously. My previous feature had nothing...

My main cast member and I constantly get in fights about the video quality of my film

Last Saturday we had a premiere for my film and we saw it in the big screen. Video was great, even the camera was Canon 550d and 50mm lens and lights used were work lights. Many people said that film looks good (and it does). Again the problem was the audio, even with the proper stereo mix it...

archived-videos The Blinded feature film published

The Blinded - Sokaistut is a neo noir feature film telling a story about divorce, betrayal and money. http://youtu.be/D51vECzcAg4 You can see it in youtube. 77 minutes, english subtitles, finnish dialogue.

    archived-videos Dialogue experiment

Have to admit that without subtitles the accent is quite tricky for me, specially the man in the midde was a challenge. It is really realistic and natural style short, like a documentary and that is both a good and bad thing, since many people might not want to see it, since it does not look...

    editing mp4 errors

I sorted this by encoding a mov file from part 1+2 and it works. Strange thing is that I was able to use part 1 and 2 without any problems and render them to mov file but not mp4.

    editing mp4 errors

Hi, the movie was mixed in two parts so I could work with part 2 and in the same time part 1 was mixed. I think I will do just what you adviced and encode those two parts again in different codec.

    editing mp4 errors

So, I have now finished my third feature and only thing is needed is to combine two mp4 clips together. technical aspects of the clips are : h.264 1920x1080 25fps Square pixels PAL VBR bitrate 32-40 audio: ACC 48 000 Hz and 32bit both clips work separetely but when I try to combine them...

Canon EOS 60D adequate for feature film?

I would advice to spend extra money to audio gear and mixing, not a new camera. If you want to get to film festivals, then proper 5.1 mix (for thiller) is way more important than the camera you use.

American Hustle 1/5 I didn't like this film at all. A Late Quartet 5/5 Great film.

    Recording dialogue in moving car

yes that might be a good one, one recorder and two mics. I was actually suprized, how good the audio quality was and how little noise there is in the background from the car.

    Recording dialogue in moving car

Ok, we did test this with my actor. I think two mics and recorders are needed. I used stereo-mic and zoom h1 recored. It was taped in the middle of the car and I drove about 60km/h. In the rear sounds are good, in the front not so much. So I think the best would have two mics and recorders...

    Recording dialogue in moving car

Yes this is not a easy task to do. One option would just record ambient sounds and then go to studio later on and hope for best that the ADR match. Then rest of the movie could be recorded on-location except those incar dialogues.

    Recording dialogue in moving car

Yes, I was thinking this kind of option as well. I wonder what kind of mixer it needs to be, many cheaper lavaliers seems to have 3.5mm jack and some mixers I found don't seem that that connection.
