    editing Any roto tips?

Yea I got some roto tips: 1. Dont rush, take your time. Makes for a better end product 2. Podcasts so you dont get bored so you dont rush 3. Use B splines not the ones with handles etc as its more points to edit 4. Break shapes down for example if your doing roto on a hand thats fairly large in...

    Adobe no longer selling software!

I think subscrption models are the future for software tbh as doing this I assume is a measure against piracy.

Graphics tablets - anyone use them?

I just bought an intuos3 the other day 2nd hand pretty cheap to do Roto as it's what we have at work and it's great. Before that I had a bamboo but couldn't stand it, but if your not used to the intuos all day it won't matter I wouldn't think, just make sure you get the bigger one. Imo tablets...

VFX, Color, Sound for your indie film

Yea impressive portfolio. Intrested to know the reasons behind the shift from blockbuster VFX to high end indie... as some one who works at a fairly junior level in VFX its very intresting. But what is on the website looks great, good luck.

editing Better to not use a flat color profile in this case?

The best way to explain this is to say think of standard DSLR output with no coneprofile as the kind of thing where what you film you can play straight on a TV. Thats how consumer cameras work, they bake in a profile so what you get out of the camera you can then play straight on your TV...easy...

Good budget speakers for checking audio

Just out of intrest if you have some prefect flat response headphones and speakers why is it preferable to use speakers instead of headphones? In other words how does using speakers give you a better representation of of the final distributed mix over headphones? Is it just the enviromental...

editing Flashing ambulance lights in POST

Hey, From what i understand you just want the light of the ambulance on the car and character. To get this a realistic as posible you need a good amount of control. The way I would do it is by making a comp of blue and red lights flashing on a black background that is blurred. Animate the...

    Public Enemies was horrible ?

Yea i thought the same when watching it on DVD. It was shot on a digital camera not 35mm and i believe the main problem wasnt that but it was that it was shot with a fast shutter resulting in very little motion blur while sticking to the normal frame rate and this bugged the hell outa me :director:

editing Davinci Resolve COLOR CORRECTION TEST!

Its a good go at it but the sky is way too saturated and overexposed for my liking. I know you want to enhance the detail in the sky with a secondary CC but its defeating one of the main points of CC to point the eyes in the right direction. saturating the sky compared to everything else draws...

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

The Football Factory 3.5/10 It's trying to be realistic with a bit of humour but didn't get there and Danny dire is just a bad actor. I should have felt something for these characters (good or bad) as they were beating the crap out of people, but i didnt. Rise of the footsoldier is a better...

cinematography What do you look for in a Short Film?

I look for shorts that are actually shorts with a beginning middle and end, none of this hey I shot some sweet stuff its a short film now or short films where in reality its just a meaningless scene with an open ending, but looks cool. Drama or thrillers for me make the best shorts with a twist...

    editing Minimizing blow out!

Yup agree with the others it looks fine (in fact I think its looking pretty good!), if its bugging you too much you could try grading that area down abit with a ramp so the eye isnt drawn to it as much.

editing Red Post Tips and Help

I have not personally worked with red footage but know quite abit about the conversion process where I work. If you want to edit native R3d files its only worth doing that if your in a rush to edit and get it out the door (or prehaps if you dont undersand conversion of R3d :P). If you have a...
