Hey, I get where your coming from with the movement. But this is a cool vs realism thing, where in film realism means nothing... if it did every hero would die in the first 5 seconds. I would rather in context when someone is watching the film to think its cool and interesting than a static UFO...

Yea blender is the closest thing you are going to get in terms of free software that can do most of what you will need. Once you get over that its not Maya its pretty great imo, besides its free and you can achieve pretty darn good results . Other than that though there is the Adobe suite. That...

Got some cool ideas for the shot, going to test something out on this film where you effectually f**k the code in the images to get actual glitches. So ill prob do this for a few frames of the footage like the UFO is causing it, hopefully it works or ill have to make something up with an effect...

Best soloution is to go into after effects bring in the footage make an adjustment layer. Animate a mask to the area you want to effect, feather the mask and grade the red area down abit. Prehaps add a blur at the end. If its a spot or acne grading wont rly work all the time because grading will...
