People are still going to the movies.

The only way for the cinema to go away would be for them to price themselves out of the market.

    Shortening time in film?

A wide of room a mess followed by medium and close shots where items are moved, picked up, or put away. If you want to avoid jump cuts make sure you are out of frame before each close shot.

editing Rendering After Effects for Youtube

When exporting for youtube from AE I start with the h.264 youtube hd preset then tweak from there. If I'm really wanting to play with compression setting I export uncompressed mov then tweak in either quicktime pro or adobe media encoder depending on the final destination for the video.

    Writing for web series

It varies alot from series to series. Some are more episodic where each episode has a beginning middle and end. Those tend to run a little longer (at least 10 min or so) Others I've seen are more serialized where it seems they just cut up a short film or movie into chunks. This seems to be...

Do you think or do you feel?

According to my mom I don't think and according to my wife i don't feel.... When planing a shot or sequence of shots I try to think about how each shot and sequence come together. Then once shooting will make adjustments if it feels off.

editing Is using Action Essentials acceptable?

Use it right, adjust it to fit your footage, and don't rely on it for the shot but rather to enhance it and you should be golden.

Rewrite rewrite and rewrite some more

I don't usually do that many rewrites once it hits layout. I tend to write things out on paper (draft 1), type what i have on paper into a word processor and make any needed changes (draft 2), retype into celtx and make any needed changes (draft 3), print and edit on paper (draft 4), update...

Science Fiction and Magic Fans . . .

For Science Fiction I either expect a cgi, vfx laden action fest with little plot and generic characters. What I like is something with a solid story and the Science Fiction and vfx elements used to advance the world/story. For Magic/fantasy I expect a cgi, vfx laden mess with recycled...

    Fake Blood

If you have the stomach for it, just see if you can stop by a butcher shop and get pig and/or cow blood. Also they often have intestines if need be.

archived-videos Music Video "Deadly Beauty" - Before Dawn (Shot in the Desert)

song was good. video was good overall. Felt like there was too much panning, and alot of shots one after the other in the same direction when there felt like there could have been a better solution to creating the movement. There was an awkward jump cut around 1:06 as her head drastically...

    archived-videos Music video released - 7d

Looked good. The only thing I felt was out of place/didn't work were the twp girls dancing around the 2:23 mark, and some of their dancing later on. Everything else was really good.

Is there such a thing as too controversial?

It is all in how you handle the subject matter. There is no such thing as too controversial. There may be something too controversial for a particular market or demo but not another. Again it is how you handle the subject matter. If handled properly the controversy may make for a good...

Best way to have 27x40 poster printed?

Your best bet is to look up local printers and give them a call and ask for quotes. Prices will vary depending on the number of prints, color inks used, and so forth. Some smaller print shops may even give you a few prints in exchange for a thank you in the credits or adding their logo...

    SD discussion, obsolete by 2012?

Interesting enough as we move away from large screens for viewing most our media, HD begins to become irrelevant. Also with more and more media streaming, people are watching SD or lesser resolution more frequently.
