    sound Welcome to Sound Advice

OK, thanks for the suggestions. I didn't know timecode was such an important issue with sound, guess I should research on timecode because I have know idea what timecode I'll be using, I don't even know what that means.

editing Transfering mini dvd's to regular size

This can easily be done with Sony Vegas Platinum Studio. You simply import the DVD files from the mini DVD, then render it out and send it to DVD Architect, and viola, you have yourself a full sized DVD.

    sound Welcome to Sound Advice

Ok cool! I'll start the first question. It's probably very subjective, but from your perspective, what would be the ideal field audio set up for a new film maker who doesn't have the thousand dollar budget just for audio? In other words, what is the best inexpensive field recorder, mic, etc. for...

Thriller & Horror Aficionados, I need your help...

What?! You can have a horror movie without gratuitous nudity?! That's absurd! :)

    editing MAC and After Effects

I see your point, I guess I'm just leery on abandoning AE on a PC. I could probably do just fine with only a MAC and use Motion and MAC based AE. I've never used Motion, but I hear it's just as good as AE, I've seen the number of Threads on this Motion versus AE issue, so I won't go into it here.

    editing MAC and After Effects

Well, actually this months' Creative Cow magazine has an article where a guy has done this, uses both PC and MAC to share video files, it shouldn't really be that much of a problem as long as I use a shared/network storage device. But, that's another bridge I'll cross when I get to it.

    Background - bedsheets?

Yes, I took that advice also and it has worked great. The lights are $16. I just have to get a few more with lower wattage as well. I've also built my own rolling track for my tri-pod using the DIY suggestions on this forum using PVC pipe, skateboard wheels, and cheap 6' pieces of wood from Home...

    editing MAC and After Effects

ok well its good to know before hand. Yes, I'm actually starting to price MAC's now, I need to upgrade anyway, so I figured, hell, why not? I'll have two systems for graphics and editing work, PC and MAc, how can I go wrong? LOL!

    Background - bedsheets?

True, I've used cheap sheets as well, espescially for green screen work, only I learned how important lighting is the hard way....I still don't have that down just right. Wrinkles will cause shadows that are difficult to key out, but, otherwise, a few wrinkles might actually add an artistic...

    XPPro32bit--too late to purchase+...?

You can find the 32bit version at www.tigerdirect.com. Some places still sell copies of it. If you are adamant about finding a 32 bit OS for some reason, you can still find copies of it, however, Microsoft does not actually develop the 32bit anymore, by customer demand, they still support it...

    editing MAC and After Effects

hmm, ok thanks. I assumed they would simply be compatible, but wasn't sure, I'll contact the vendors and see about it. The only ones I'm really concerned about are Red Giant plug ins.

    editing MAC and After Effects

I've been procrastinating on asking this question because it seems like a simple answer but I can't find the answer anywhere else. If I buy a MAC and After effects to go with it (i'll get Motion too, but I'm used to AE) will the plug- ins I have for AE on a PC work with the AE on a MAC? I'd hate...

    XPPro32bit--too late to purchase+...?

I'm curious to see how Windows 7 turns out. The website doesn't really tell me much, other than, "we listened to your feedback". Oh yeah? Well what happened with Vista? I have not heard one positive review on Vista, although I'm not sure if people just are not comfortable with the vidual changes...

Thriller & Horror Aficionados, I need your help...

LOL! Well, you can never go wrong with a Wii. We bought Rockband2 two weeks ago and my kids haven't stopped playing it. We didn't plan this one out too well though, the play room is really just an open area upstairs, and the drum beating can get pretty annoying when watching TV in the family...

Horror films that don't rely on Gore.

yeah that's true, between the unknown and being forced to do painful things to yourself or other human beings is always scary, I think that's why I like the Saw movies, it's not really so much of a slasher movie, but more of a psychological thriller as well. All the victims have to make a...
