Kickstarter to Make the Teaser First?

No, we're not asking to be given everything. But I think you're also right in that we need to put anything and everything we can into the teaser-- dollars as well as our contacts, access to crew and equipment, etc. If we're serious, then we need to show it and not let it look like we'd take...

Kickstarter to Make the Teaser First?

Good point-- I'm a straight-shooter, wouldn't even dream of using a quote that wasn't legit. I think your last sentence is a big hammer put to the nail. Our plan is to get the word out in venues early and often.

Kickstarter to Make the Teaser First?

Thanks for your thoughts, folks. Sounds like you are saying that kickstarter should be called "The Family & Friends Funding Channel!" I'm not trying to be as sarcastic as "interesting, is that the norm?" Would assume kickstarter wouldn't divulge the statistics even if they could find them...

Kickstarter to Make the Teaser First?

Greetings, All- My partner and I want to raise funds to make a teaser, then use the completed teaser to hopefully attract funding and make the feature film (on kickstarter or indiegogo). It's a period piece, and our initial budget deems the feature too expensive for kickstarter and our own...

Anamorphic - Bang for the Buck?

Good advice, I'm pasting your comments into my notebook for when I get an anamorphic lens someday... Please post more footage if you have time and the inclination. Gracias!

Anamorphic - Bang for the Buck?

@FernandoAndre Nice! I noticed something that came in your variety of subjects: Seemed to me the most "cool look" shots were those with the simplest compositions and least action. If the frame was full of people or business, the look wasn't as noticeable (again, to me). Can certainly see...

How to get a crew together for your first film?

    +1, Alcove.

How to get a crew together for your first film?

+1 On one point I disagree a bit with Alcove, however, as it might be too soon to start a production script. First, make sure the script is the best you can write it, and then get it reviewed by a few folks (preferably in the biz, not a relative or partner) who will tell you their honest...

    cinematography Saturated blue sky

Polarizing filter? Also noticed a few shots had a very washed out, pale sky. If this were New Mexico, USA, I'd say it's natural as our skies are often *that* blue :).

Anamorphic - Bang for the Buck?

I hear you, Sweetie, but don't you think it can be *part* of the mix, of the look and feel of watching certain movies? I'm not saying the 2.35:1 format is the be-all, end-all of a film. Do think you're on target in one respect: while watching a movie, I point out "insider" film stuff to my...

    Inside of a Coffin...

Not to my eye, because exactly whose POV is it looking in from the *side?* Some other good ideas in the thread; I always like the character POV looking up at the backside of the lid for that claustrophobic and trapped feel, so maybe the camera is mounted next to his/her forehead? (just got a...

Anamorphic - Bang for the Buck?

Thanks for your thoughts, jax_rox. I'm thinking the lomo on my GH2, but I'm a newbie on anamorphics and it will need to be something I can afford to buy or rent. Was thinking of buying Andrew Reid's e-book (http://www.eoshd.com/anamorphic-guide) to help get me going. Think I understand what...

Anamorphic - Bang for the Buck?

I tend to agree with your points, and am studying up on the various adapters and lenses available. Might rent the lenses if that's the way we go. Thanks!

Anamorphic - Bang for the Buck?

@jax_rox Can you tell me why a period piece might not work, and/or an example?... Thanks for your thoughts, I'm anxious to see Argo!

Anamorphic - Bang for the Buck?

I do agree, the story is king. Now you've got me thinking about exactly what genre/type of stories are best suited to the anamorphic. Westerns come to mind, sci-fi too. Seems family dramas or others with lots of interiors aren't suited as well.
