editing How to resolve recurring white flash

If you can't find the cause of the problem, I would suggest "hiding" the problem by placing a black mat around the edges of your finished film. (A black bar on the top, bottom, and sides). It doesn't need to be very wide...just wide enough to cover the flash.

distribution Alternatives to iTunes and Amazon Video Direct?

We sent him an email asking if there is an "up front" fee for listing our film. He did not respond, so we assume that there is.

directing Indie filmmaking talk for feedback, advice, learning etc

My wife and I have produced 9 feature films, and a lot of documentaries and short films. We have also been directors of a film festival for 11 years, so we've reviewed hundreds of entries. Generally speaking, the longer the film, the harder it is to get it accepted into a film festival. A...

distribution Alternatives to iTunes and Amazon Video Direct?

Filmhub is a shot in the dark at best, but at least it's free. We don't expect to make any money with them, but at least our films are "out there" somewhere. We have 8 films listed with filmhub, which appear on Udu, Amazon Prime, Unreel, and Binge Horror. Two more films are approved and...

distribution Alternatives to iTunes and Amazon Video Direct?

Since Amazon has been purging titles, they finally dumped one of ours. Assuming that they will eventually dump ALL of our older films shot in SD, we have been looking for alternatives. We found a company called Filmhub which charges nothing for placing your films on various websites, such as...

    Most popular sites for casting?

All of the ones that you mentioned, and whatever other sources you can come up with. Most of your applicants that you will receive from ANY source are really qualified to be "models" but not actors...they have no acting experience but feel that they are talented actors none the less. As you...

    Suggestions for my video

A video needs a story, a plot, or a reason for being. Ask yourself, "why does anyone want to see my cactus".

Crewmember available over summer. Will travel

Go to craigslist.org and look at the TV/Film/Video jobs section. There are several cities in Texas to choose from. Most of the jobs are unpaid "junk", but there are a few paid gems in there.

editing Video editing software that imports Pro Res

The simplest solution is for you to get a format converter, and convert your files into a format that your editor can ingest. I use a PRISM format converter that is available for free trial. It's at https://www.nchsoftware.com/prism/index.html When your "free trial" expires, simply download...

    Amazon did it again.

Amazon just announced that filmmakers who have films on AMAZON PRIME will now be paid 4 cents per hour...down from the 6 cents that they were previously paying. Bummer.

    Estimate cost of...

My wife and I have made over a dozen "no budget" feature films. (Actual costs $2400 to $9000 each). My advice is...only spend what you can afford to lose. Don't borrow money. Don't mortgage your house. Don't cash in your 401K. Don't sell points. If you have $500, spend $500. Chances are your...

Vimeo Passwords Keep Breaking - Ruining My Festival Submissions

My wife and I have been running film festivals for the past 11 years. Actually, we prefer that you simply upload your film to FilmFreeway and not vimeo. The reason is, if you upload to FilmFreeway and we want your entry for our festival, we can simply hit a "Request Download" button on...

My wife and I watched STAN AND OLLIE...(Laurel and Hardy). We loved it. The attention to detail was amazing. The makeup should win an oscar.

Slowmotion video to normal speed setting

Sounds like you accidentally shot the video at a high frame rate, such as 60fps. Normal is 24 or 30 fps. To view it at the proper speed, you can try to speed up the footage in your editor.
