The reasons you visit, and would want to visit IndieTalk

I think I would definitely say do it separately, but retaining the IT brand and allowing forum members to log in directly (and vice versa). Could definitely help drive discussions from the postings onto the forum. Not sure if there's much point in doing it worldwide though, as you may end up...

The reasons you visit, and would want to visit IndieTalk

I think that's because there are much more active region specific sites which are dedicated to the task of recruiting. I've posted job listings on IT before but only for composer/VFX/editor roles, which can be done remotely and, even then, more out of loyalty to the site than actual pragmatism...

What are the first things a budding filmmaker should learn?

I don't think we're seeing things differently, just coming at the issue of 'delegation' from two separate directions. I think there's a tendency, among beginner filmmakers (and here I'm talking about people who have started making films, not people who have just picked up a camera) to...

What are the first things a budding filmmaker should learn?

I like 'delegation' as a note. I would go further and say: Realise that you're not a genius at everything and you're never going to be. Find the aspect of filmmaking where there is a convergence of your enjoyment and your ability. You're not going to be able to do everything, and one-man-bands...

Best Short Term Insurance for Indie Shoots

I know you're in the US, so this is just for future Googlers, but Performance does excellent rates in the UK and is especially good if you're shooting on infrequent days, because their month-long policies are negligibly more expensive than 2-3 days.

    editing Podcast audio help

Completely by chance, I've started a new job where I have to produce a series of podcasts. We're running up against a bit of an issue with down-the-line recording and I've been trying to find a solution. I posted this on MacRumors and got nothing useful back, so I figured I'd try again here: Hi...

Shooting a feature in a foreign country.

The Philippines recently elected an ultra-conservative president who has kicked off one of the most severe anti-drugs programmes in history. People are literally being encouraged towards vigilanteism against suspected drug dealers, and scores of drug dealers are being murdered by the state on a...

Shooting a feature in a foreign country.

The current political situation in the Philippines makes it somewhere I definitely wouldn't want to film. Knowing your work, CF, I suspect that there might be some adult themes involved in the movie (?), in which case I don't think it would be a sensible place to work.

Congrats Paul! Getting a 404 on the album though, sadly.

story 1st Draft: America Love Story

I understand your confusion. Generally, this section is to discuss screenwriting and any issues/thoughts/news on that subject. People do often post screenplays looking for feedback, but they usually write it in screenwriting software (like CeltX or Final Draft) and then export a PDF which...

    Film/Video Production Offices for Lease

Wasn't meant as a criticism! In the UK at least (where I think CL is much less active) I think it would be considered quite a dodgy place to list high-end real estate, but clearly, if it doesn't have that reputation in the US, then it's a great way to get around real estate agent fees.

Out of curiosity, why are you advertising this on Craigslist?

Anyone cool with answering a few questions?

    1) How long have you been making films? What got you started? Why do you make films now? Umm... I'd guess that you're talking about making films semi-seriously (rather than being a kid with a VHS camcorder forcing his friends to act in various skits that have never seen the light of day) in...

    Dudes -- I MISS YOU!!!

Wheat, it's all about Pokemons now DUH! I've actually been following your progress with Car Car Crash for a while now, just because I've been curious to see what the process for that would be. You've always been very technically accomplished and I'm glad you've found such a cool new outlet. I...

    Big Move !

I'm really curious about this campaign. On your previous platform you had raised $0 after several days. Now, you've raised $2,505 after just a couple of days. But, most interestingly, you've raised that from only 2 contributions! And, looking at which perks have been claimed, one of those...

    Forum Discussion

Nothing I've ever seen mad_hatter say has come across as rude as taking his out-of-context comments from a thread you weren't involved in (when the OP didn't seem to have an issue with them) in order to publicly criticise him.

    No Budget

I feel like increasingly the advice being offered on this site is coming from people who have no practical experience with the subject their discussing. No, you can't make a feature film for absolutely no money. That's not to say that you can't make a feature film for a practically tiny amount...
