    Just out of curiosity.

Thanks for the zoetrope tip. :) It looks pretty good. You used it any?

Script pimp actually looks pretty good. Better than a few other script advisement sites I've seen browsing about.

    The case FOR Pirate DVD's...

Dude...that sucks. Here in the states 1) Noone really gives a rat's ass if you show more than 5 people a dvd as long as it's on your own propery (and don't charge them to see it). Seriously, even if it is a rule, nobody cares. 2) We can record anything we see on TV or radio for pretty much...

Yo, clive. How much does a decent script editor usually charge?

    Just out of curiosity.

Actually, I was considering PMing a few of the members here I've come to trust and asking if they wouldn't mind checking mine out (my first draft, or probably my 2nd when I get that far). I'd be more than happy to give my input on anyone's story who wants it (despite my lack of writing experience).

    Bloated Hollywood Crap...

This thread kinda reminds me of that episode of South Park where Stan and Kenny see "The Passion of the Christ" and thought it sucked so bad, they drive to Hollywood, go into Mel Gibson's house, and steal back their $20.

    Just out of curiosity.

How long does it typically take you to write your first draft for a feature? When you get an idea that 'sticks' do you tend to type on end, any chance you get? Or do you pace yourself? Take it slow and spend more time considering all the possibilities and routes the story can take? I was hit...

    Bloated Hollywood Crap...

Dang, man. You sure are hard on your movies. I kind of liked The Island. It did it's job; entertained me. And I didn't really have that high of expectations of it. But for popping it in the dvd player and watching it while I ate my dinner, I enjoyed it. :) I'll tell you 2 movies that were...

    The case FOR Pirate DVD's...

One cinematic experience that's definitely worth seeing is Imax films, though. I agree on the regular cinemas. 99% of the time I'd just as soon watch the movie at home. But if it's good, and it's on Imax, woohoo. :) edit: In case anyone doesn't know, Imax theaters use 70mm film instead of...

    Cooking up an idea...

I've been working a bit on it. Reading up a bit on the subject. I've decided, the action sequence I had in mind is good; the story, however, worn out. On to good news, I've got in touch with a few old friends who are enthusiastic about making a (very)low-budget movie (all three us have...

archived-videos Movie I've been working on is almost done

Um...not to be bastardizing, but am I the only one who found this a misuse of the word 'Kamikaze'? It's more of a murder/suicide. It's like saying Columbine was a 'kamikaze attack'. Doesn't really fit.

    Browsing for cheap mixers.

I've been shopping around looking for a good mic setup. I've read in past threads that if you're running the sound into the camera, it's best to put it through a mixer first. So, I picked I was wondering if this cheap mixer would get the job done. I'm not exactly rolling in cash right now...

    Reliability of your camera?

Yeah, but that's like, a $6000 camcorder. Not a $300 one. :P I use a Canon GL2. I've shot 2 shorts, a training video, and a few sample commercials. My dad has taken it everywhere with him (Yellowstone, the Badlands, Panama City, etc); it was his 'family vacation' camera. Between the 2 of...

Viral marketing tool to get exposure for your films

No need to apologize; I was just messing with ya. :P You mentioned using bitTorrent in conjunction with podcasting. That sounds like an awesome idea. I've seen people request .mp4 video torrents so they can put them on their portable media players and a few new sites launching geared solely...

    From Modern Life?....

I'm a bit pissed. I went to Blockbuster tonight to rent Left For Dead and they didn't have a copy, even though they have it on their website. :grumpy: I may buy a copy. ;)

    Questions I need Answered

In 43 states you only have to be 18 years or older. In 7 states you must be 18 or older and send a fax or letter of intent (one of accepted intents is 'theatrical purposes'). All-in-all, they're pretty easy to acquire.

Viral marketing tool to get exposure for your films

Dang, your podcasting site looks good. Clive, why'd you have to make me look so dumb? :grumpy: ;) I had a misconception about the audio promotion site. I heard viral marketing and instantly thought "mailing lists" and "spam", thinking not only were the postcard's created and content hosted...

Viral marketing tool to get exposure for your films

I'm with mrde50 on this one. Those emails go straight to my trash bin. One of the better ways of advertising (though it may sound dumb), is launch a site. Then either submit a catchy trailer/racey clip to a video site like break.com or muchosucko.com. Pop a watermark of your site address in...

IndieFlics Discussion moved to premeire forum...

CootDog, the site sounds like a great idea. I'd be happy to help out however I can. I'm curious what your plans are about site design, though. Wouldn't you need a custom coded system for purchasing and regulating the download of movies? Could be a tough job.

So many online, so little posting.

Yeah. I noticed some days its pretty slow, other days there are tons of new posts. It's all good, though. Since I've joined, I've had no problem finding new info to read and getting great responses to any questions I have. :D
