Writers using flashy words for the sake of it?

Thanks. The reason I got so paranoid with marches is because I was attempting my first script and after reading a few other scripts I noticed I subconsciously used the word "marches" for mine. I wrote "The army marches towards them". I was worried my script might seem cliche or...

Writers using flashy words for the sake of it?

lol I guess I misinterpreted bounces madly, I thought he was trying to say the driver is driving like a mad man. I'm just paranoid when I write my script I dont want it to be seen as amateur if I throw in a bunch of words for the hell of it.

Writers using flashy words for the sake of it?

I see "marches" used a lot for having a character move from one place to another and I'm wondering if that could make your script seem cliche to a producer? Could that be seen as on-the-nose writing? How else could you say "Andrew marches in." in a unique way?

Writers using flashy words for the sake of it?

ahahah sry, I was just messing around when I wrote that. It just kind of seems a little cliche. I'm wondering if it could possibly give off an amateur vibe if it's over done or not done right. Someone could probably tell if you don't put much thought into your word choice and choose a flashy...

Writers using flashy words for the sake of it?

Example: Why use the words "bounces madly"? That literally has nothing to do with driving down a forest road. In the show there was no "bouncing madly", it was just a car driving. So what if this guy wrote "Collins' LAPD SEDAN heads down a barely-existent dirt road" Is it necessary to...

Do you care about mastering screenwriting?

I was wondering if you guys that are film makers care about mastering screenwriting or do you only care about getting your story on the page to go into production? I read about 2 scripts and then wrote 8 pages of a TV pilot introduction and posted it on Yahoo Answers and this person wrote a...

story If my story has simliar beats to another movie is that plagerism?

Would you be able to give me an example of something that is plagiarism? In this anime movie, the protagonists friend/talent agent turns out to be a psycho in the last scene. The protagonist was an ex-pop idol and the agent is upset she's turning into an actress. In the final scene the agent...

story If my story has simliar beats to another movie is that plagerism?

Can you get in legal trouble if you have the same beats (similar twist) but different storyline? Is there a major difference between Weeds and Breaking Bad?

character Screenplays that rely on character vs plot?

My friend wants to write a murder mystery teen drama type story. The only thing is, to me the story doesn't have a hook. Why should anyone care about this person close to the protagonist being murdered and them trying to find out why? Breaking Bad and Dexter both have immediate hooks and they...

Am I allowed to be a little unrealistic for middle ages?

ahah^^ Thanks for the advice. I've decided I''ll write-in basic hand motions to show that they both feel a connection with each other. The protagonist is going to be in a cell with his partner and the slave will come bring food or clothes. The protagonist will notice he's deaf and use hand...
