    Film Freeway

IMDB is also a bit archaic though. It will probably remain useful, but let's be real- no one is passionate about their dictionary. Another nice thing about filmfreeway is not paying per online screener. I also like having my vimeo account linked directly to my projects. It is just one less...

    Film Freeway

Holy crap is it easier to use, and more useful than withoutabox. This really is not an advertisement or promotion for them. My experience between these two sites is night and day. I have gotten projects into more festivals on filmfreeway.com and it has been an easier and cheaper endeavor than...

    Dolly Movement Thoughts

I disagree. Audiences read visual storytelling faster than ever. They are very discerning. My knee jerk reaction to this sort of "introduction" is CBS Pilot. I don't mean that positively. Who is your audience? How on Earth can you have these broad generalizations about what you need to cover...

    Behind the Scenes Photographs

These are nice. That last comp needs some depth/dimension on that building. Glad to see VFX being planned beforehand though!

    Director's viewfinder - necessary?

You may want a viewfinder that would allow you to choose lens length, and frame an image. It all depends on how you work with DP's. However, most of the time a playback monitor can be set up, which I find a bit more open/inclusive. I want to talk to, show and hear from my codirector, producer...

    editing LUTS for desert southwest

I dont believe you are going to find a LUT that completely solves your need. You are better suited grading your footage.

editing Candle Fire - Motion Tracker problem

That track does not seem like the problem to me- it is pretty solid. However did you not calculate scale? It seems to grow. Your fire plate appears to be moving a bit. You could also use heat haze/distortion to help break it up a bit. It also looks like you could play with the opacity/overlay...

editing need blinking cat eyes in dark fx

Do you have any references for what you'd like? First part is sorting out how to create the eyes. You could shoot something which is a nice place to start with any composite because something is grounded in reality. Take a look at some actual cat eyes for reference, I think with LEDs you may...

Virtual Reality may be the next big thing.

Will it hold someone's attention for a minute or so? Can it be used to sell something? How difficult is it to use? If you answers Yes, Yes and Low, Yes, No and Low or No, Yes and Low you have something big.

Guys did you like the Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 4?

Anyone else feel like zombies are inherently boring? AMC is going to have Walking Dead, Fear the Walking dead and Empire of the Dead all in production at the same time. That seems super fucked to me.

    Softwares

I think the point is that your eyes, ears and decision making are going to make whatever NLE work, because they are all just about the same.

What do you dislike most about the modern film industry?

I like that modern cinema has enabled more regional films to be produced than ever before. I am also into the fact that I can shoot a film without taking a mortgage out on my home. I recently watched "The One I love" and was pleasantly surprised to see that Donnie Darko had sex with a...

editing Can you spot the CGI?

A composite is anytime two images are put together. Compositing is the process. I notice bad composites in this video.

    Police Uniform

I rented a uniform for a shoot in NYC. It actually came with a permit to have it (avoid any uncomfortable impersonating an officer charges). Maybe I overpaid, but cops came by, we showed the permit and were OK. I believe the pair of uniforms came to 300. The prop guns were awful though.

    Dolly Movement Thoughts

Her head gets cut off in both and the movement is better in the first one. My own 2 cents, that camera move does nothing to establish the location that her next line, or a prop choice couldn't have said in 1/10th the time. I just know the races of people beyond the lead.

cinematography Has anyone had an issue shooting 4K?

So, annoying podcasts aside, have you had an issue shooting 4K? Why did you shoot 4K? What was your final master? What camera did you use? What was your workflow? Where did your production actually suffer? I recently was on set to shoot this music video...

editing Can you spot the CGI?

First of all, that opening line made me laugh, so thats awesome. I did not see a ton of what CG, but I see plenty of bad comps. Is that what you wanted us to look for? When you say CG, I expect an environment, an object or character, I dunno. In the case of looking for CGI it should look...
