Dear Festivals, please get with the times

I've had festivals say they never received the email or that the email was overlooked, but I've never had a festival say they lost my dvd. It's just my experience. I'm not going to change a pattern that has worked flawlessly for me.

Dear Festivals, please get with the times

Reliable. Tangible. I don't know what codecs their laptop has. I know what codecs to best use on DVDs that play on all NTSC devices. Emails get lost, DVDs not often. It's on their desk. I know many theaters that play Call of Duty or other games on the projectors after they close.

Connor. I do believe we've always gotten along. I believe we're similar. We took to callings early and we tried to make it a bigger deal than it actually was. When I was in high school, first at barely the age of 16, I had published a card game. Then another, this one a best seller, then a...

Is Film School Really Worth the Cost?

Cool article, except it's incredibly outdated experience. You got an Associate Film Degree? Either that's an ancient degree from when the Film Program started, OR you dropped out before getting halfway into the Bachelor's (Which is the only way to get the Associates pre-New Eco) To get that you...

    Dolly Movement Thoughts

This is an establishing shot... you show your entire scene in one take. It's a crucial shot for coverage. Who knows if it'll all be used in the edit, most likely not. But you should get a lot of options when filmmaking. An establishing shot should always be done, regardless if used or not.

I made a short and want your opinion

I stopped at Tuesday night.... perhaps because at that point I was just too bored and saw that it was 18 minutes long of this..... Also I was expecting something completely different when I read the description... The only war I see is his hatred for going to work or something? Seems childish...

    Location agreement

I've shared this link multiple times now since it was originally shared to me a few years ago.... Sonnyboo has posted multiple filmmaking forms for people to download and it was very nice of him. Enjoy. There is a Location Agreement on here. http://www.sonnyboo.com/downloads/downloads.htm

How do I ensure payment for services rendered.

The contract you'd need to be a location scout is a Deal Memo. That's signed before the shoots. An Invoice is sent after the shoots. You said you've spoke to a lawyer that helped you sell some property? He's on board? He doesn't sound like an Entertainment or Film Lawyer. Don't get a lawyer...

tv Activision will create a film and TV studio.

This certainly isn't the first case of a major game studio getting into film making. Ubisoft Entertainment created Ubisoft Motion Pictures a few years ago and have a long line of projects in development. The most exciting of which of course is Assassin's Creed with Michael Fassbender...

    Dolly Movement Thoughts

Hey guys, So tonight I wrapped on a short my group has been working on for two months. It was pretty stressful to make sure everything turned out right from pre-production, building the set, and actually shooting the film.... But as we came to our last shots of the day we realized our...

cinematography Expert advice needed: Huge budget for film studio set up

Well the first thing you're going to want to do, if your bosses are SERIOUS about this is them them they need to contact the electric company and get a license to use the drop down. It'll be a huge case in the wall with five thick cords attached to it. Hopefully your building has one that's not...

    Kickstarter vs. IndieGoGo

I'm not sure what you mean by money start up.... but if you mean your project raises through the pages by people pledging in a short amount of time, yes, with no social presence it's more likely to happen on Kickstarter than any other crowdfunding site. But the quality of your content...

    Kickstarter vs. IndieGoGo

^^^^^ That's some good advise. If your project means a lot to you, this isn't too much of a task.

    Kickstarter vs. IndieGoGo

I actually see it quite often on KickStarter and they do pretty well since they have something to show. The fact you have the project almost done, has NOTHING to do with the equation. The equation is how likely are randoms to stumble upon your no social presence and want to donate. As you have...
