    archived-videos Last of the Swords

Interesting short. Some parts were a bit dark for my liking and I think you could probably cut this down a bit and have a tighter better story but there were definitely good things! I liked the final battle with the I can only imagine what that did to any temper the blades may have once had...

    archived-videos Last of the Swords

I'm not getting the footage to work for some reason. I took at look at the code and saw that the link has been truncated. I'm not sure if this is just the manner in which the code was displayed or if you inserted it as the actual link. Anyway this is what I found...

    PAL conversion from frame mode

Have you already tried to conversion? If so what wasn't looking so good? Can you describe what you're seeing? 30p to 25p (or 24p) is a bit more difficult to convert than 60i. I'm not entirely sure what the best way to do that would be.

    Questions I need Answered

Yeah we have pretty loose gun laws around here. Especially in the state of Montana. You can purchase an AR-15 (and similar) without a background check if I remember correctly. I'll have to go dig up the gun laws again.

The biggest thing I can think of for 'day for night' is diffusion. Harsh light is a dead giveaway.

    editing After Effects vs. EffectsLab

Combustion is definitely a nice piece of software =) I hear ya Coot! I'd love to get my hands on Fusion 5 as well!

JVC HD-100/101 ... any one used one?

Excellent point there! My apologies! I don't know much about either camera as I have not held or seen footage from either. So take my review as limited in scope. =) I'm definitely interested in seeing some screengrabs and/or footage when you have some available. There's also a new consumer...

    editing After Effects vs. EffectsLab

After Effects is allows for greater flexibility and power if you ask me. That said, it's also quite a bit more complex and doesn't come with presets for muzzle flash type stuff. It's definitely a program that will take some learning, most likely from a book (there are many) before you can...

    editing DV conversion to DVCPro50

DVCpro50 is much less compressed than DV and contains 50% more color information. There really isn't a benefit from editing or coloring in DVCpro50. Unless you're doing a whole bunch of recompression (which is almost never the case and for which uncompressed footage is the only way to go) it...

JVC HD-100/101 ... any one used one?

Glad it was of some use Clive. I can't claim to have used the camera in person so I may be off in my assessment. I should probably clarify that by 'suck' I'm refering to aberration and not it's manual capabilities (for which it is definitely far superior to a built in lens). I've viewed...

JVC HD-100/101 ... any one used one?

Sounds like you would really like the HVX200 Clive as it shoots, DVCpro50 and DVCproHD in both 720p with variable frame rates up to 60 (like the varicam) and 1080p/i modes. I'm not sure I agree Knightly (of course this is all my opinion and not fact). I've found that the new HDV cameras have...

    I'm getting stupid :(

I wouldn't worry about it too much Clive. It's been said that Einstein, when asked for his phone number, picked up a directory to look it up. Didn't like to clutter up his mind with useless information. ;) Of course the veracity is up for grabs!

    My crazy idea

Unless you shoot with a progressive cam :)

JVC HD-100/101 ... any one used one?

Hey Clive, have you seen the footage from the new Panasonic camera? Quite impressive and many say fairly comparable to varicam stuff. Personally, I really like 720p when done properly.

    Need Some Assistance

Hi guys, Looking for someone reliable to bash ideas around with and script rough drafts for a few projects. Most importantly right now though I have a script which MUST be finished ASAP and I'd like to find someone I can share my ideas with, beat 'em around (the ideas that is!), critique it...

    cinema framerate

It's certainly not as important but there are benefits. If you edit the 24p frames in a 24p timeline you can create a 24p DVD. Basically instead of using pulldown (2:3) on DVD it lets the DVD player format the 24 frames into the proper display sequence for NTSC TV. It's benefitial since you...
