    archived-videos Director Demo Reel

Yes it is the directors job to oversea the acting. And in film it is also the directors job to oversea all the elements of the film from pre production to post. In TV where different directors direct different episodes It is common ( but not always the case ) for the director to not be involved...

My least favourite part is building stems for final mixing. The up side is checking out indietalk while files are saving.

sound How do you select music or sounds for your film?

It is an interesting debate but I think the best way for the director to communicate to the composer the music they want varies according to the director. Some feel more comfortable with temp music, others like to just talk style and others there are others that simply want to talk about story...

    sound Trance music score

It's a great idea to have a predominately trance influenced score if that's the right vibe for the film. I'm with you Scoopicman. Run Lola Run is a fantastic marriage of music and film.

    Is las mananitas public domain

For a definitive answer contact ASCAP but the copyright probably expired 75 years after the death of the people who wrote it. I believe it was written in the late 1800's so you should be ok to use the tune. But contact ASCAP and ask them.

You give them an example of what you're looking for and ask for 60 second submissions in that style.

sound How do you select music or sounds for your film?

I've found the most important thing to do in this situation is to copy exactly the beats per minute of the temp music. Yes you may encounter some temp melody love but you should really be able to create the same mood with a different tune. But the rhythm of the edit and the way it works with the...

    sound Pro Tools VS Nuendo

Hi Josh. Working with midi in Cubase is fabulous. I highly recommend it. Steinberg certainly have their issues as a company especially with support but if you like the workflow of Cubase I think you'll enjoy scoring with it. m

sound How far out of reach is a live orchestra

Hi Josh. A live orchestra is out of reach for most indie films. Supplementing a midi mock up with a few great live players is more realistic for some. If you are using an orchestra they have to be very good because if they are not super players it will be horrible. Composers who can put...
