Get there at 4.30. Start shooting as soon as you have enough light. You'll find almost no people, and if you do, they won't be many, so you can have someone to tell them that you are try to shoot something for "film school" and ask them to wait a second for you to get your shot. Let them go...

Keep the shutter speed at 1/50, and, if it's a landscape, i'd keep a relatively big f number. Try to keep the ISO as low as possible, and that's pretty much it. Also, try to install the Technicolor Cinestyle color profile. It will give you a nice flat image to adjust in post.

I would go with both. Just like the ironman suit, a good monster can be CGI'd for wide shots, or stunts, and a puppet, suit, or someting can be used for close ups, or where CGI work would be difficult (variable lighting, reflections...)

That was awesome! Really liked it, nice dialogue, and photography. I have the same camera, and my video always look shitty, witch chromatic aberrations, noise and the like. What settings did you use?

Man, don't get even close to simulating right now. First off, if you want it to be realistic, you are talking 3D. And when you tlk 3D you are talking modeling software, plugoins, renders, porably particle work and physics.
