    IndieTalk Awards?

Wasn't there a thread highlighting some Indietalkers a few months ago? I'm inclined to say either FlickerPictures or Nate North started one.

A quick question about condenser mics (cheap ones, especially)

...Which is why, for the moment, I just want a cheap mic that I won't feel bad about replacing. When I have a real budget and need for more, I will definitely go to everyone's suggestions here. It looks like there are quite a few more options in the $300-400 range or higher. Thanks everybody!

A quick question about condenser mics (cheap ones, especially)

Okay, thanks a ton for the tips! I didn't really know what the "power requirements" section meant with the XLR-mics before, so I will definitely be going with a USB mic (probably the Blue Yeti). As for an actual audio interface, I will definitely look into one in the future, but right now it...

A quick question about condenser mics (cheap ones, especially)

Well, I plan on getting a decent shotgun mic for films anyway (~$300 range). But I was asking about a cheap large-diaphragm condenser in addition to that, if it would be worth it for various vocal applications (forget about the foley). If not, what is the cheapest I could go when looking for...

A quick question about condenser mics (cheap ones, especially)

I'm starting to look seriously into getting some beginner audio equipment for voice-over, singing vocals, basic foley, and possibly some instrumental recordings. My first purchase (I imagine) will be a digital recorder (either a DR-100 or H4n). From there I plan on getting a decent shotgun...

    Dennis Leary's Documentary "Burn" Kickstarter

Some of the shots in that pitch video were beautiful. And I mean really beautiful. At the risk of sounding a bit shallow, I'm going to ask the obligatory question: what camera/lenses did he use?

    Successful director's short films

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WhKt_CkXD0 That's Christopher Nolan's first short. After this, he made the feature-length "Following." From there he did Memento, and the rest is history.

Am i ready for full length feature?

Right, but instead of editing a video for 2 hours, I could get paid $15 an hour at a part-time job and buy food/put it toward rent. That's what I mean by time~money.

Am i ready for full length feature?

Here's where many people (not all, and this wouldn't even apply to me yet as I'm barely a hobbyist) would say "time is money." Perhaps you never spent any money on the production of the movie, but you paid living expenses during that time (food, electricity rent/mortgage, etc). Just a...

So I'm reading a lot about vintage lenses.

You will almost certainly need an adapter. DSLR's have all different kinds of lens mounts -- manufacturing standards on how lenses fit to the camera. The Canon rebels have an "EF" mount, which is compatible with the more expensive EF-lenses made for Canon. If you want a different brand of...

archived-videos DESTROYER - with soundtrack by John Pearson AKA Harpsichoid

It really is up to you -- I don't have a strong opinion either way. If it were me, I'd throw it up on Youtube. You could say it's an "anti-horror film." I'm not sure what kind of response you'd get, if any at all. But that's just me. Great work regardless!

Making music in Audacity or SoundBooth?

Thanks for all the responses everyone, and I'm sorry for not replying earlier. I finally got LMMS downloaded and running, and it's pretty awesome! For at least the first few projects I need it for, I think I'll be sticking with it. I also found two cloud-based editing suites which may be of...

The second and third "Bourne" movies. There's also a special feature in The Bourne Supremacy dealing with the music in the scene after Maria dies. Although I'm not musically-inclined at all, I found it interesting to see how they mixed two distinct emotions in that particular section.
