No offense, but I want to slap you so badly right now.

    Ever Root For The Villain?

He wasn't THE villain, but Boba Fett gets my award for most disappointing waste of a great bad guy.

    The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

 Early in pre-production, the IMDb listing for The Hobbit had Nimoy performing the voice of Smaug. Would've been a good choice, I think.

    A Little Moral Booster.

Cool! The moral of the story: keep up your morale! :) Does he ever recommend his faves for representation?

cinematography Why don't more directors operate the camera themselves?

Amen! I'm friends with a pair of filmmaker brothers who work in Portland. One brother will write and direct a feature while the other shoots it for him, then they switch places for the next one. That way they don't have to hire a DP. Reciprocity. That's the kind of setup we need, CF.

cinematography Why don't more directors operate the camera themselves?

+1 Kholi and jax I've had to shoot all of my films myself because there's no one else where I live (tiny town) qualified to do it at my level. I hate having to do it for exactly the reasons stated above: I'm concentrating on the goddamn camera rather than the performances. I know Soderbergh...

    Old Sennheiser K3U/ME80 worth $100?

True that! BTW, I also own an AT835b (bought new). Also had good results with it on many shoots over the years.

    Films about making a film

Best (narrative) movie ever about making movies, IMHO: The Stunt Man. Not a realistic portrayal of the technical process, but it absolutely nails the art of it. I used to gather my casts together for a screening of it before shooting my own films. Runners-up, in no particular order...

    Old Sennheiser K3U/ME80 worth $100?

Bill, I own an ME80 with K3U capsule I inherited from a friend. The system is probably 1970's vintage, but still sounds great! In fact, I used it to record all the production tracks for my most recent feature. It is basically the old version of the ME66. In addition to what Alcove has said...

    Space Battle Scenes

The space battle in Serenity was more realistic than those in, say, the Star Wars films. Certainly not totally realistic, but closer than is typical for the genre.

    Star Trek Into Darkness

As long as Abrams gets rid of the whining in this one I'll be happy. If I had to encapsulate the first Abrams ST in one word, that would be it: whining. Bunch of sniveling, snot-nosed, self-absorbed, whiny little brats who had no business working in a military setting, much less commanding an...

Process for getting script readers her

If you pay someone to read and critique your script, that person is technically a "script consultant". Some consultants are also affiliated with agencies, and claim to be willing to pass your work up the ladder if/when it's sufficiently polished. Many years ago I paid a script consultant, who...

Process for getting script readers her

If you're paranoid, register the script. Pro screenwriters don't bother, according to my L.A. manager, because script theft is largely a myth. But, hey, $20 is cheap peace-of-mind.

    Budget Vs. Quality of Help

Uh, no. They pay actors millions of dollars because their names put asses in seats. Billy Wilder was once asked why he kept hiring Marilyn Monroe when she was so notoriously difficult to work with. He replied that his Aunt Minnie would be more punctual and prepared, but who'd pay to see her?

    How to direct actors?

I've directed hundreds of actors over the past 25 years, from trained professionals all the way down to neophytes. There is no one right way to do it. Each individual has a unique set of needs. An amateur may need something along the lines of your first example. A professional may only need...

Can I trust ebay and amazon?

And only 7 of the 61 total feedbacks were as a seller. There are a couple of red flags (for me) on this one, but if it's a really amazing deal I might risk it, particularly since PaisaPay has a 100% replacement or refund guarantee.

That's fair enough. But it doesn't justify the rude tone of some of the responses. IMHO.
