What do you think of Avatar?

I thought it was boring also. It was such a familiar story in the world of sci-fi that it just didn't come off as anything special.

Should I pursue a film degree?

Like everyone has stated it works for some and not for others. I took an introduction to digital film production class at my local college. I went in with no knowledge of how to make films, none. All I had was passion for films that I love watching and the curiosity as how to make them. After...

    Magic Lantern for Canon T3i

I use it on my T2i. No problems so far and I have been using it for a couple months now. The ML software actually goes on the card and not into the camera so no worries on effecting the original canon operating system. FYI make sure you buy a fast Class 10 card to maximize the software's potential.

    DSLR's

I've been using a T2i (550D) for the past 6 months now and it's honestly a great tool. This was my first camera ever and it's allowed to grow as an artist. Like many people have said before, it's just a tool. A good story and the basics in cinematography will trump (most of the time) an under...

top-list Moveimaker 2012 Top 10 Cities for Filmmakers to live.

Seattle surprised me to. I live in Jacksonville Florida, flat and not very interesting to me artistically. I have been to Seattle a couple times because I have family there and I am thinking about moving there after I finish college. Seattle supports the arts and is a fun town. It's huge...

    The death of DSLR?

This camera does offer some amazing features at a great price, but some of the things it lacks vs. my DSLR like a removable battery and 60p would not make me switch to it.

    Best TV Shows of 2011

I might get alot of heat from this but I was really touched by this series. It's an anime called Usagi Drops. A man in his late 20's who is very career driven adopts his grandfather's 6yr old illigitemate daughter (so technically his aunt) after his death. The rest of the family treat her as an...

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Hugo - 9/10 (non-3D) Amazing cinematography, especially the morning scenes in the train station with the warm sunlight cascading on to the platforms. Acting was impressive by the two children and Sacha Baron Cohen had fun with his character without going overboard. Martin Scorses's creative...

archived-videos Student film for fundamentals class.

Thanks Feutus Lapdance. I was hoping to do a longer film for this project but 4-7 minutes was what was given to us. For my first real film and a noobie like me I know now why he wanted it short like that LOL if it would be longer I think I would have been overwhelmed. When I wrote this I thought...

archived-videos Student film for fundamentals class.

thanks for the compliment rayw. I shot the final scene earlier into the semester because it was a time when I could get both actors and I didn't get to learn about White Balancing in class yet =( so some of the shots in this short were done in Auto White Balance. I kill myself for some of the...

archived-videos Student film for fundamentals class.

Thanks for the input Nathan =) During this shoot I had to work with alot of restrictions. Mainly the limited space and time on the monorail cars. There are only two cars on the rail that I could use and most of these shots were done during rush hour traffic in downtown so I had to shoot what I...

Reasons why your talent or crew would not respect you?

Also be wary when using talent that is a friend or someone you know well. After shooting my first short with mostly friends they tend to get distracted or think of it as just having fun and the professionalism is lost.

Hi guys i didnt mean to open a can of worms here but i guess I really dont understand the difference between "Indie" and "Independent". Does that mean you measure a filmakers "indie-ness" by the success of their films? if thats the case... Example: Lets say I won a 100 Million dollars and I...

    George Lucas, indie filmaker?

Just a little while ago I realized that George Lucas writes (with a little help), directs, and produces all his own films. Do you guys/gals consider him a big hollywood filmaker or an indie filmaker in the highest degree?

Weird movies you liked as a kid

LOL yeah i was definitley a kid in the 80's watching this. My parents always worked double jobs so my older sister pretty much raised me and my brother. So she let me watch movies and listen to music of all sorts. And my parents growing up stole cable so.... I had lots of channels ^_^
