How did you get your job? (story)

Well I got my first major film job through school. A teacher distributed my resume and portfolio and I got a great offer. It was filming weddings. I hated it. It was physically hard and time consuming. I lost it a week and a half later after one project because they couldn't afford me. It was...

    Satan's Sugar

I agree. Sound is half the experience! Haha! That's why I got a music major doing all the audio.

Equipment recommendations for a pretty specific situation...

Canon Vixia HF200 kit at Costco, 600. Opteka X-Grip online $30. Overstock.com has cheap tripods. This is the gear that got me through school.

    Satan's Sugar

So I'm on this new project working with York Fiction. You can guess it's about cocaine. York Fiction is writing the whole script from my outline. Hunteq Media is funding it all, along with a local author. I just wanted to create a thread for updates in Pre. So I'm not going to give it all away...

    Desert filming

In my opinion, if you don't have a big budget, avoid the NFO. They've screwed me twice, and were never helpful to me. I now just go straight to the Police department. It takes longer but it's nicer, and easier to get approval for guns in some cases. Sometimes it's easier to go through the NFO if...

One word. Yummy. Haha! I like some of the pans and trucks. I didn't like the post-production zooms. It takes away from the video quality. Based on the rest of it, it didn't seem like it was that kind of style. Good other than that!

    OMNIMORPHIC

Thanks! Haha! I just lost $20. But yeah, I thought it was a legitimate word.

    OMNIMORPHIC

Howdy! Can someone please tell me what the word "omnimorphic" means? Google said it doesn't exist, but Wikipedia, a camera site, (RED), and my friend here say it's some kind of format or something.

    archived-videos Purgatory [short film] [5D Mark 2]

I rather fancied the name title how it interacted with the car, then faded to black! Also the cinematography is great! Absolutely fantastic. I'll be honest though, I didn't see this guy as any kind of law enforcement, he looked kind of young. For the U.S. at least.

    cinematography Shooting a fight scene

In my experience, having trained stunt people help. Also rehearse a lot! But in the end, I shot at 24 frames and in FCP I sped it up to 30. This minor change made a major difference.

    Celtx

It's required at my school. You don't have to use it though. It's on every single computer there.

    Desert filming

If I'm thinking correctly, Apple Valley is in California. Come to Nevada during winter, the Reno, Carson area. It's usually safer than during the summer because there are no snakes or spiders. But there is sometimes snow.

    Feature shoot in 10 days?

I think it can be done. One of my former advisers who crewed on some Docudrama Miniseries and edited it, said shooting from beginning to end took 15 days. Not including set-up of sets and locations, but the whole thing was well planned, well rehearsed and well executed.

    Howdy from Reno

Howdy! I'm Hunter Rand! I'm studying Digital Broadcast & Film at AACT in Reno, Nevada. I was born and raised here in Reno. I am studying to become a Broadcast Journalism Major Specializing in Marketing, and would one day like to become a Marketing Engineer. I build my own rigs as I used to be an...
