How Cool Would An Internet Theater Be?

Ha I like how you list the cost of movie making as... 1) Perks 2) Actors 3) Equipment At least ya got yer priorities right bud, man after my own heart!!!

Favourite "slow burner" movies? (Euro Dramas)

ha ha... Had plenty irrational hatreds myself... they are cool... like small hobbies.. have them for a while and then burn them off, hate something else!!! "Anger is an Energy" as some other knobhead once said. :D

Another take on the 3-Act "formula"

This is quite an interesting article on the (negative) influence of STC et al. http://www.slate.com/content/slate/sidebars/2013/07/now_playing_at_your_local_multiplex_save_the_movie.html

Favourite "slow burner" movies? (Euro Dramas)

The last part....:) yer right in that Von Trier and Vinterberg came up with the whole Dogme95 manifesto and hawked it around the world. Vinterberg made Dogme#1 - Festen, Von Trier made Dogme#2 - The Idiots...and so on it went with different filmakers (Harmony Korine did #6). There's still...

Favourite "slow burner" movies? (Euro Dramas)

Von Trier only made one dogme film... The Idiots... I love the range of visual styles he has in his early work... really shows a guy finding his range... Some beautiful collabs with Dod Mantle as well!

Can I make an actor's teeth look whiter?

You could glue tictacs to their teeth. The white ones obviously!!!

    Camera lens recommendations?

I'd give a big +1 for Sigma 30mm... not cheap but I love it!! Is there any benefit to buying a USM lens as a filmmaker??? Autofocus and lens noise don't really factor into my situation. They are generally lovely lens though. I'm gonna go for a 80mm-ish option next... I may even go for some...

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

The Tall Man - Pascal Laugiers follow up to the brilliant Martyrs...similar in how he manipulates the narrative brilliantly but otherwise totally different. Not a horror. Maybe the ending was a bit trite but really enjoyed it. 8/10

    Old Boy remake coming up!

Don't hold high hopes...and the find the whole remake culture utterly depressing!! The remake of Dragon Tattoo was an absolute car crash!!!

Favourite "slow burner" movies? (Euro Dramas)

I'd also add Festen and Mifunes Last Song, Dogme films and absolute stunners, in totally different ways... Maybe not so much a slow burn with a huge payoff like some of the films listed but have that "european pace" that I think you're after. :) Also the Sympathy for Mr/Lady Vengeance films by...

Favourite "slow burner" movies? (Euro Dramas)

Breaking The Waves is a stunner, but very slow, also Dance in the dark. Time of The Wolf is a pretty good Haneke one, not his best though. How slow do you wanna go?? I'm wading through Angelopoulos and Tarkovsky boxsets, incredibly slow, but the cinematography and direction is utterly...

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

I Heart Huckabees - Had some great elements but the overall flavour felt a bit off for me. The pace seemed to drag and there was just too many scenes with people just shouting at each other. strange as his other films are so very watchable!!! 6/10

    cinematography The cinematography of Drive

I just gone through this process RayW. After much high quality research (google n whatnot) I came to the conclusion that unless yer willing to shell out the big bucks a Variable ND filter isn't really viable. Plus if you want to swap your lens... you'll need ANOTHER ND filter unless all your...

My lense will not focus for an extreme close up shot,

 Reading your stream of questions H44 I would say that you are still trying to figure out how to use the camera nevermind choreographying a fightscene on a crossroads and building a crew or whatever it is that's blocking your progress. Why don't you just forgot (for the time being) about...

Is it worth going to a film festival?

Why don't you see if you can help out/volunteer for the festival. That way you've a better chance to network, get access to the hobnobbing events that general public might not get access to and also don't really have to watch any films if you don't want to.

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

THE BLING RING - Decent, solid if unspectacular but some good performances. Similar in tone to Springbreakers... Two films that have tried to capture a glance at 'modern youth' without presenting judgement. A decent 7/10 OCEANS 13 - Watched on TV and it was Highly enjoyable if a little daft...
