Merci, Dready! This helps take the sting out of getting those "not accepted" emails from Ann Arbor and Newport.

thanks Josh! Really hoping to get another one finished in the coming months. While it's good to get work out there, it's just as important to create new work. But you gotta make hay while the sun shines. ;)

    Las Vegas IndieMeet 2014 (June 6 - 8)

Mike! This is such an awesome event. And boy, did I have a great time at the 2010(?) IndieMeet. I can't make it out this year and really hope it won't be a one-off for me. Big congrats to you, Sheila and family on 10 years of opening your house and hosting such a cool event! I'm sure it...

After some deliberating, I've decided I need to sit this one out and watch from the sidelines. My regrets. I have two projects that are currently in need of completion and should get those wrapped and out the door before taking on another, albeit a fun one. Just can't wholly commit at the...

I had to search "Geocities" because it didn't ring a bell, but once I saw the website examples I knew exactly what it was. That would make for the perfect sort of landing page. Made me immediately think of

Nick, what sort of tone are you thinking for this piece? Something in the vein of X-Files and Millennium? Dark, serious, suspense, intrigue, conspiracy... Those are just two "aliens cometh" shows that come to mind. There are many others.

I don't really have a unit or a team to speak of here in Boston; it's just me and a camera with scant resources. If it helps serve the script I do have access to a local state park (link here http://goo.gl/maps/ByAnn) with several miles of wooded trails, a reservoir and an interesting stone...

    Developing a Webseries

that's a camera I had my eyes on a while ago for corporate/industrial work. one of the features I like is the dual SD slots so the client can walk away with a copy of all the footage. And if I'm not mistaken there's built-in memory, too. No, not a DSLR but a good little HD rig with XLR outs.

editing Indie Film Opening Titles Are The Worst In Film

an old favorite of mine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqdkDwOY9fw and a new favorite https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmRXT7w2C1s they're kinda like mini music videos I do think short indie films should cut to the chase and save credits for the end. maybe a company logo and a quick title of...

And I'm not fixated on the mockumentary genre, totally open to whatever evolves. But if you are feeling that it's lazy low-hanging fruit, might as well remove it from the list?

Hmmm... I never said anything about being lazy. Just as much effort and care can be put into shooting a mockumentary as shooting any sort of narrative/drama/thriller/horror/etc/etc/etc... Just wondering... why include the genre on the form??

Just read the form. Hadn't thought about the mockumentary (comedy of course) genre, but that seems like it might be the most forgiving in terms of production quality as well as collecting a disparate mix of footage from all over the globe, which lends itself to a documentary feel...
