    Zombie Movie Questions

I agree w JoshL. People are generally more impressed with a simpler movie done really well, then a more elaborate movie done ... well, not as well. And CG effects (as mentioned above) are rarely convincing unless you have major financing to have it done by a professional FX studio. Figure out...

Starting points for psychology and philosophy?

Philosophy - read "Sophie's World." Don't read too many reviews about it before hand...there are some good twists that will be spoiled by careless reviewers. This is a fun way to get an introduction to Philosophy. You might be able to get some classic Plato for free - like The Republic.

What's the darkest most disturbing thriller ever made?

Hard Candy is another one. Not the MOST - but it is up there for some. (Not to be confused with "Candy" starring Heath Ledger; or the even more awesome "Candy" starring Ewa Aulin.)

What's the darkest most disturbing thriller ever made?

Better acting vs. better shooting takes.

My personal preference would be to select the best performance, but only if the shot flaws are slight. Try to evaluate the degree of the performance on a scale (like 1 to 10) and the severity of the shot flaw (1 to 10) and do some math to figure out which shot should win out. Then be prepared to...

    co-direct or not to co-direct

Perhaps it might work to have a conversation with him and let him know - "These are all the things a director typically does. Do you want to do all of these things on your own, or do you want to share the director credit with me and I'll help you through all this stuff?"

    Slashers

It also depends on how much experience you have. If you are a seasoned pro, then skip the rest of my comment. If this is your first movie project (or within your first 2-3), then perhaps you should just make the movie you want to make. Don't try to force into a festival-friendly mode. You may...

This thread started out as a valuable discussion about the benefits of living in L.A., so let's keep this one on that topic.

    Where to start with?

Have you looked for internships / entry level jobs anywhere that can offer some insight into the video world? Like a TV studio, commercial / video production crew, things like that? Even carrying a light for a guy make wedding videos is a step in the right direction. You'll learn from that, and...

This site's members really excel at sharing information and helping others get better at what they do. You did some great work with your movie. Most importantly, you moved past dreaming about it and made it reality. That's perhaps the biggest accomplishment. For that ... congratulations!

Review Notes Quick note: Knightly chose to critique based on four categories; visuals, audio, creepiness, and story. I am not really much of an audio guy, so I am going to leave that critique to Knightly. Instead, I’d rather critique on performance, so I’ll swap in that category instead of...

Help please! Idea for Short Film.

Now having said that, you could use the reverse to show him walking from the ledge (backwards, slowly) back to the door that leads to the roof. Intercut with that would be the scenes that that you described as being his motivators for jumping. The end could be where the two components meet in...
