You're right Zen, although they do have a few ntsc versions such as the pd170 and some new sony cameras. Worth a look at just for the price and reliable service from what I have heard.

I know nothing about producing, but may I suggest that if your interest in producing only because you want to go to college, then don't limit your options to producing. Try and get some experience in producing to see whether it is something you would enjoy enough to warrant studing at uni for.

It seems all this camera sells itself for is being hd. I think it is targeted for home video users for their holidays etc. It's cheap so i guess you couldn't expect anything fancy other than high resolution footage.

I'm confused as to how you export the edited file as the exact same settings as the original import from a nle system. When ever I try to export the footage to a dvd authoring program I always thought you had to compress the footage.

Does the dvd work in region 4?

I can see that if the person is used as the subject but what about when its just a group of say 25 buisnessmen walking down a footpath.
