I believe Matt and Trey put a message in alot fo their work. What about at the end of a South Park episode when Kyle explains the lessons learnt. Sure it's tongue-in-cheek but I think there is often a message. You could argue that a filmmaker has the right to illegally place things on screen...

You might want to have a look at super 16. Basically it's single-perforated 16mm film, which is slightly better than standard 16mm (double-perforated) because it records onto the extra space on the other side that isn't perforated. I guess s16 would be easier to blow up to 35mm but I don't know...

I think your films will be taken seriously and easier to justify if you thought of a message or a meaning to develope a short film, rather then showing a father beat his wife and kids for no apparent reason. Most artists who create art to shock have a message at least.

Sometimes headphones make a buzzing sound when they're not plugged in properly. Make sure they are pushed in as far as they should.

I guess there is no reason to shoot 35mm or even s16 if you don't plan to ever project the film. Why would you spend so much money on film when people are only ever going to watch it on a tv. Also, I'm not sure if you would be able to make your money back from dvd sales when you take into...

Oh I think I get you now. If you want to delete a file, select the file and hold down the apple key and press 'delete' (the apple key being the one on either side of the space bar). The other 'delete' key is under the help key above the up, down, left, right keys. Don't stress over that one...

Hmm delete key. I don't know what keyboard you are using but my mac keyboard's delete button is the one with 'delete' written on it with the = to its left and the \ below :P

Here I think I finally found my answer. According to "What they don't teach you at film school": 'People own the rights to their own image, likeness, and voice. They don't surrender these just because you have a camera. News reporters are allowed to show people in the context of a news event...

I would say that the scene he is doing requires rain in order for the flim to work the way in which he intended, otherwise he wouldn't go to all the trouble to make rain.

I always thought dv25 was standard mini-dv which isn't as good as dvcam or dvcpro.

The chip is oversampled in both 4x3 and 16x9 mode so the 16:9 quality is just as good as 4:3.

I wouldn't say that lenses would make that much of a difference unless you were stacking more then a couple or so.

No doubt you could do this in shake right? Maybe even motion?

Suprisingly not. The sony pdx10 had true 16:9 imaging because of its high pixel count (something like 600,000 pixels per ccd compared to the usual 300,000 or so). I think it is a one of a kind though.
