    OK. A period film on 2500$. All I can say is good luck. You will need it. Lots of it. Based on the definition of Fair Use, I would say you do not fit. You are making a feature move which does not fit into commentary, search engines, criticism, parody, news reporting, research, teaching...

    What are the issues with using real weapons on set?

    I'm as pro gun as you can get, but I have always used prop guns on my sets. No reason to let a moron give the left more ammo ;=) Even with a pro on set to handle and control the weapons accidents can happen. Brandon Lee, Jon-Erik Hexum to name a couple.

    I've worked a few mexican movies here in Texas. That is what they do. They bring in a name actor from mexico and charge the local actors to be in the movie with them.
