Which is better Audacity or HitFilm? - Sound editing

Neither of those two are proper hardcore DAWs for audio. No professional specialist would use either for audio. So as much as I like HitFilm I would have to say *no* to that! (I even run a forum for them: https://www.facebook.com/groups/426174967509293/ ) Instead go for one of these two: 1)...

Liliput A5, a 5" HDMI pass through monitor for only US$149!!

Just finished my a weekend of shooting with the Liliput A5 for the first time, and I really liked it! Was a nice screen (in fact the B cam would often be using it for himself! Rather than for its purpose: to be pointed at me, so I could keep an eye on the B Cam shots), seemed to be battery...

Lights for indoor real estate video shoots?

Real estate video is all about high volume at low costs for most shooters, and lighting them just wouldn't make sense. (not like it does for real estate photography of low to mid end houses)

sound Recording Sound in Service Tunnel

It is very important to know your equipment and know the right names for them. "Rhode" doesn't exist. Rode though is an audio company that does exist, but they product many different mics, so you can't just say "a Rode mic". Likewise when you said "Zoom Hn8", that doesn't exist at all...

What is the best possible microphone to use when filming next to heavy traffic?

Oh yes, I agree with all that as well. And it was a consideration in a recent ADR session we did, as mentioned here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXBcBqpSEt4 I was just making an additional observation in my previous post.

    Sound recording with limited kit

I've heard the C500 in 4K raw is very very noisy? If you're shooting 4K that is, then check out the custom fans people have built to make it quieter.

What is the best possible microphone to use when filming next to heavy traffic?

Plus you need to be careful to make sure the ADR sounds like it matches the real location and not dry clean studio sound

Zoom F4 with six inputs and eight tracks (is like a new low priced F8!)

I used to use a Sound Devices 552 before my F4, even bigger knobs! But practically speaking it doesn't make too much of a difference, as you're not going to be changing either of them mid take while booming.

What is the best possible microphone to use when filming next to heavy traffic?

Even docos, you have more control over the location than you probably think. And yeah unfortunately our world is I reckon getting noisy at a faster pace than our technology can keep up with?! Maybe. Depends.

    Sound recording with limited kit

A small small prosumer kit for typical low budget corporate shoots and films would be something like this: Zoom F8n (& external battery plus ORCA or K Tek bag, I use an Orca OR-30 myself with a Zoom F4: https://youtu.be/FBaOHFdsW8g The new F8n has just started shipping, and mine will arrive...

Zoom F4 with six inputs and eight tracks (is like a new low priced F8!)

Fully 100% bizaree, I was just looking back at one of my old threads and I see it got moved into "Promotions/Classifieds"??? Even though there is nothing here of myself that I am promoting! :-o Rather I was sharing interesting and relevant news about sound for the forum. (I shortly afterwards...

What is the best possible microphone to use when filming next to heavy traffic?

The BEST solution would be: Do NOT film at such a location! But yeah, if you MUST, then have the mic visible in the frame and get it to be super super close (such as a reporter's mic or a headset mic).

Best ever noise isolating headphones? The Remote Audio HN-7506

I think you'll find they're rarer than you think in a PSM's kit. But yes, is a very useful addition to have. And I'm not aware of any one else than Remote Audio who are (semi) mass producing this mod for public sale?

B&H Flash Sale on the Sony UWP-D11 Wireless for US$399

Are you thinking about getting another wireless? Then boy do I have a deal for you! These (which are in my view *the best* low budget wireless! Is why I own FIVE sets of them) are having a cracking good sale deal on right now (limited time flash sale at B&H)...

Fujifilm X-H1 announced: the first video focused stills camera from Fujifilm

Personally I don't see it as being "better" than a GH5 But I can understand that others have different personal preferences than myself, as to what is important or not. Thus for a few people the new Fujifilm XH1 is going to be a better fit for them. More importantly, this is a big step...

Best ever noise isolating headphones? The Remote Audio HN-7506

Quite excited to give this a spin, once the new gel pads arrive. They share the same drivers as in my Sony MDR-7506 headphones, thus the listening experience should be the same but with a 45dB reduction on any external sounds leaking in! This would have been especially useful last weekend when...

The low-budget bubble has well and truly burst

Oh even low budget films get a "lot" of money put into them! And even more time!

The proportion of filmmakers who never make a second feature is very very very high.

Fujifilm X-H1 announced: the first video focused stills camera from Fujifilm

Of course got to release the BTS to their marketing video, showing the Fujfilm X-H1 rigged up to the max (ohhhh.... I spot a Roland R88! A moment of silence for his back please): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEqgq1boB94
