You might try submitting to screenplay competitions. Yes, it will also involve spending some money, but not so much as making a short. If you have a really kickass script it will likely rise to the top in competitions and you might get some notice that way.

It's a very difficult decision indeed. You are correct that a lot of what you are learning you can learn on your own or by working on a set. If you leave, you'll be giving up the connections/relationships you will develop at school. NYU has a very good reputation in the US and its film school...

As a filmmaker, I would say those are some good choices. As a kid, "The Wolf Man" was my favorite. Something about the pathos of Lon Chaney Jr. really moved me.

There is an "ALL CAPS" setting under Format/Elements Settings. Look at the dialog element ,Font tab and click on the "Set Font..." button. See if it's set to ALL CAPS for dialog.
