    The Community Brainstorming Thread

My technical capabilities now include a Flip HD. :D Too bad it's only 720p, though. Knightly, you already have your assignment. It involves a shower scene if I remember correctly. My actor resources are very limited. I will need to abuse friends and family to get people in front of the...

    BLU RAY burning

It very much depends on the viewing environment. I can most certainly tell the difference between DVD and BluRay because I'm running over 1000W 7.1 surround system with a 73" DLP television. DVD looks downright horrible in comparison, even upconverted, and nothing beats the uncompressed audio...

    New project - EXCITED !!

Ah ha! You used my idea. Good job. :)

    Name That Screengrab

It's already out in 3D, but right now Panasonic has an exclusive on it. You need to buy a 3D TV to get it. I actually saw the 3D version of the movie sitting in the Clearance section of my local Sam's Club today. Not sure how it got separated from the TV. Probably a floor model.

You shouldn't have given it away. I was about to post that.

    Confusion? Kidding. :)

    Animation script

Everything I've read, it isn't really any different from a live action script. Although what's most important in animation are the storyboards, IMO. But you'd still need a script to know who (or what - could be a talking toaster), where (setting), what they're doing and what they're saying...

    Community Project - Starts Now

I just watched this. Didn't yesterday because I was at work and saw Dready's comment. Not quite what I had in mind, but...

    The Community Brainstorming Thread

My camera with its manual lens and shoulder mount has a distinct ENG (Electronic News Gathering) look to it. It could easily gather footage for use on televisions in the background. And this could force me to get more familiar with After Effects to add the text scrolls and framing. I also...

    Community Project - Starts Now

Age is irrelevant. There are plenty of adult children (i.e. adults who act like children) in the world. And if you're referring to your avatar, rarely are those representative of someone's actual looks. Mine is the rare exception. I look exactly like that.

    Community Project - Starts Now

Morning routine would be better. Seven minutes per segment in the shower would be extremely boring to watch. And watching someone shower that long is voyeurism, plain and simple. It's also seeing someone at the height of vulnerability whether or not you actually show full nudity on camera...

    New project - EXCITED !!

That wasn't me. I could've made this concept into an excellent short. :D No wonder you've been quiet lately. That's a huge undertaking. But it does look like you have access to some great talent, so Godspeed.

    The Community Brainstorming Thread

I'm not sure I would allow everyone creative license over the dialogue. That's one of the hardest things to get right in screenwriting. Some of the examples I've seen lately didn't ring true, and there's always "talking the plot" and "on the nose" to contend with. I honestly believe each...

    To you all

Definitely not the best available, but it was at one time a pretty expensive setup. To put all this together when it was new would've cost you over $10K. Naturally, I paid a lot less for it. I bought it as a learning tool (why it has the manual lens) and wasn't planning a feature film for it:

She's a professional model who showed up for a photo shoot we were doing for a calendar, and I was shooting behind the scenes stuff. But I do have her number on the release form. :D Three things to be very concerned about are video quality, audio quality and story quality. Story comes first...

    To you all

It really just depends on your target audience and distribution medium. Feature films were shot with this camera, albeit using really expensive lenses. I am focusing on screenwriting primarily right now, but I've been studying film and TV in one form or another for the last 20 years or so. I...

Oh, duh. You're right. I was picturing Adam's Family. No wonder nobody figured that one out.

    To you all

Well, I guess I'm out then. All I have access to right now is my Canon XL1s. I can upconvert, but it will never be as good as HD footage. It records 480i and I output 480p (deinterlaced and converted to progressive scan) from Premiere Pro 2 for DVD authoring. I can crop to 16:9, but I'd lose...

    Name That Screengrab

Bravo!  You should see it. Cute story. But the Alabama reference was actually for Sweet Home Alabama in which Reese Witherspoon (who not only had a role in Penelope, she was also a producer) starred. Guess that one was a little too vague. Good making the connection to Gold...

    To you all

You really need to choose a format. 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p. 25fps, 30fps. Not everyone has the same camera with the same capabilities, so there will be plenty of exporting and transcoding, which will degrade quality. Then there's the challenge of transmitting huge files over the...
