    The Community Brainstorming Thread

Production Blogs really aren't that complicated. I have one: http://www.indietalk.com/blog.php?u=6530 And I can even start a new section in my blog for my segment (should I have a decent idea once everything is locked down). At the very least, if I don't have time to produce the thing...

    The Community Brainstorming Thread

Alright. Now it has to be about zombies because I couldn't sleep last night and brainstormed my segment. I need to research the guidelines on working with kids because it involves my 5 (almost 6) year old and 14 year old nephews. Are there any "family" clauses in there? :)

    EDIT: Wrong thread. Sorry.

Yes it is! Especially right now. I am not a morning person.

Apologies. The premise of the article was hiding behind obscure avatars and false names. Wasn't trying to ruffle feathers. I'm probably among the few who actually uses his real name as a screen name. BTW, I not only play them, but my company is in a large part responsible for their success...

Ummm... Your screen name is Cracker Funk and you have a baboon for an avatar. Just noting the irony. :)

    MONSTERS

Mmmmmmm.... I'd take this over a DSLR any day.

    Oh, the Horror!

Would it help to know that you aren't the only one lacking focus? Hell, I'm ADD, so I deal with it everyday. You sound like me. Except my first script hovered in limbo for 20 years. That's why it's important to have more than one script in the works. I have about seven in various stages...

    Screenwriting troubles

Hmmm.... You sure he'd be jumping up and running much after getting knocked unconscious by a brick? Isn't it more plausible that he'd be dizzy, nauseous, disoriented, possibly stumbling and falling flat on his face again? Just curious. It's your story, so just thinking out loud here. And I...

    Aaaaargh!!! Devastated....

Yep. Been there, done that. The collective unconscious is a bitch. But don't trash it! You can't copyright an idea or a concept, only the execution of it. That film may have a similar concept, but it doesn't mean that it has the same execution as yours.

What Camera For My Walk Across America?

You could always look into something like this: http://www.ewa-marine.com/index.php?id=553&ca=&ra=&ext=&model=Canon%20VIXIA%20HV40&L=0 EDIT: Doh! I see you already have something. :) Nevermind. Seems to me that you have it all figured out.

    Screenwriting troubles

So someone finds him unconscious on a path, holds his hand, then walks away? Nobody willing to help this poor guy? Incidentally, how can he refuse to go to a hospital if he's unconscious? As for a scene (this is in outline, not in screenplay format), perhaps first use an establishing shot -...

    Walk the Walk

Since we're on the subject of long takes, definitely check out Children of Men if you haven't already. Some amazing long-take sequences in that film. Watch the making of it if you can.

If you're talking about this: http://www.indietalk.com/showthread.php?t=27781 Then some of the folks responding here don't have access to it because it's in the Premiere section.

    My first film idea: Fireworks

It's hard to say whether or not your concept would make a good finished short because even if the concept is exceptional, the execution could fall flat on its face. If it an interesting concept that would make me want to know more? Sure. There are several stories that could come out of it and...

    Walk the Walk

Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. But you probably already knew that. :D Good luck with the shoot. Hopefully you have a good script supervisor who can keep track of the continuity between takes.

archived-videos "Antihero" trailer rough cut -- seeking opinions

Knowing the story, yes, you captured it. It's coming together nicely. A lot of good advice here on the audio, the pacing, and the content, so no need to rehash the same things. My only observation was the end. It cut out too abruptly, IMO. Made it look incomplete. And, yes, it made me want...
