i really liked malcolm mcdowell in "red roses and petrol" by irish playwright Joseph O'Connor. what are some other plays turned into films that were well done in your opinion?

TEETH, Leprechaun, and The Gingerdead Man (starring garry busey!) are what come to mind first...but theres a plethora of other weird/terrible/strange ones out there...

i take them all out and organize them in a large cd case holder, so i can take them places and share :) and the covers are alphabetical order on a bookshelf

with the 70th anniversary of the wizard of oz coming out and the rumors of a wicked film in 2011, i was thinking another oz movie should be made in the near future. l. frank baum wrote thirteen other interesting adventures through oz, why not make one of them a film as a tribute to him? i dunno...

Ah! haha hocus pocus is totally a halloween guilty pleasure of mine. loved that since i was a kid too!

erg. i had a permits issue once. a location fell through at the last minute, so i used my own personal residence for one of the locations, but the city of orange is RIDICULOUS, showed up and said we couldn't film (even inside of a private residence) without a permit for that specific location...

i'm not really into michael moore's stuff, but i saw "roger and me" in an econ class and thought it was interesting commentary on the economics of the 80's.

first real film with a budget was "the theif." a 3 minute short about a man who steals a ring to give to his love, but alas gets caught in the end. an homage to the charlie chaplain days, shot on arri-s 16mm (still shot at 24 fps, sped up in post) and accompanied by Scott Joplin's Cake Walk...

always a good idea to learn as much as possible about the history of any subject you plan to work with. plus film history is actually quite interesting!! and it does help you understand the trends of the art.
