    Sheep of social media

@Ray Yeah, that's a good advice! It's always about finding a specialty and fill it. IE: there is a guy who takes pictures of cloud formations. He sells tons of images and doing great financially. Imagine, cloud formations? There are so many 'specialty' sites and the good ones has not...

Customer Input Directs Netflix's Original Content Plan

Star ratings... I don't think a single star-rating is a good one. It should be several questions and ratings. The movie could be a good one but the viewer didn't like something. Give them a few options as why and select the answer. Maybe five lines of questions and each line has a 1-5 star...

Anyone ever use fivesprockets to write a script?

I used Adobe's on-line script writer. (story.adobe.com) It was free from last year, but now they want to charge for it. It's NOT worth the money. They will never get anywhere with that servide in my opinion. The program had it's share of bugs and not very intuitive, but once you get the hang of...

using a fog machine in the woods.

You can always set a small fire and make it smoking with green stuff... and a gas powered leaf blower would do the trick to spread it where you wanted... plus the gel on the lights would create the mood. Anyone tried a smoke bomb... like an emergency smoke? That would be OK and it works...

Best camera in the 3k price range?

XF-100 is super cool with 4:4:2 CS and pristine clear images. That's $3K If you want less manual controls check out the XA-10 with the same innards as the XF-100. We have several of these and love it. Dual SD cards and internal 64Gb at 4:4:0 CS but you can use an outside recorder and get 4:4:2...

A decent set of cans (headphones)

Am using Bose QC-15 to filter out the ambient sounds and pay attention to my recording. I know this is a $300 cans, but it's worth it to me. Give it shot and hear the difference.

    screenplays where nothing really happens

Ya know.... Midsomer Murders a Brit series on PBS hardly have any 'action' or anything remotely resembles a movie demanded by the US viewers and Studios. Yet they are a success with intelligent adults. Many Brit movies on PBS is like that. Sometime, you can't tell between the characters who is...

2012 MARCH > Movie of the Month Club

I don't have the time to give details on the movie(s), but I watched 'The International' about three times already. I like the story and the way it was shot. The acting was very good, BTW. Not sure if this movie made money or not.

    new and free!!!!

It's a cool concept/story. There are many who made good comments and I just add one thing: Pace. The pace is too slow for trailers. It should be much faster and many cuts. If you don't have the footage, make it 30-60 seconds only. A good dialog between two actors would have been nice to see...

Crowdfunding is Illegal in the U.S.

Gonzo I assumed it was done by 'industry' people as in the past. LLC can be satisfied in the event you suggested, by making the investors 'Executive producers. The Gov don't care if the person is really there and do that job. Well, anyway, this is a different subjects and there is absolutely no...

    cinematography Opinions Welcome

A shot in the dark.... use pink or any other colors outdoor? Blue screen is OK if there is no BLUE sky :) Far as I know the 'correct' colors for green screen and anything green is not the same. We painted many plywood panels with Home Depo paint, I think one of them was "Disney" color and it...

Crowdfunding is Illegal in the U.S.

Yup, it's NOT illegal at all. They don't sell securities or make promises of return on your 'investment' which is NOT an investment to begin with... it's a donation. In fact the site FORBIDS of any kind of repayments ! The only thing you can do is offer trinkets for the donation. Am sad to...

my script copyright. does it cover...

If you really want that story, do a page-one rewrite? Throw out his half and re do it with yours. Now he can't sell it as is without your agreeing (original script) but you can shoot yours now. I don't understand why people fight about scripts. It's really not that difficult to find one or...

cinematography Do audiences notice these things in photography?

Looking at the audience point of view, assuming they know nothing about the tech side. They may not 'know' why they didn't like the movie, because of hundreds of little things just don't seems to jell on the screen. Sound and lights comes to mind as the neglected ones in most indie production...
