What is the best system for remote viewing?

All you need to solve your technological problem is a standard wireless video transmitter/reciever setup. Jax already mentioned Teradek, there are several others. It won't solve your people problem though, it'll just divide your attention between two units. If you can't trust your B unit to...

New 4K cameras good news for indies?

This. Technologically speaking, global shutter is going to do way more for indie films than 4K ever will. And even that isn't going to make a bit of difference over the fundamentals anyway, but that point was already made. ;)

    cinematography GH2 White balance issue?

What color were the sheets? I have a theory, but I never use AWB on my GH2. I always dial it in would recommend that over trying to use AWB with a card. Having said that, I am not authoritative or anything, it's just my preference. When you WB broadcast cameras in this way, you want to fill...

    What's your Dream Remake?

Book adaptation: http://www.amazon.com/Wasp-Eric-Frank-Russell/dp/0575070951/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1383067762&sr=8-1&keywords=wasp+eric+frank+russell But set in a fictional, modern day, earth-like democracy where the techniques are used by covert agents to trick the populace into surrendering...

    Tilt shift question

Hmm. Would be interesting to hear someone with more T/S experience talk about how they might go about that, but I am not sure that is the right tool for the task. You might have to used forced perspective instead, if I understand your goal right. You mean like making a model car look like a...

Does a director have the right to re-assign duties in the crew?

Sadly, this actually happens. A lot. Maybe not the "no support" part, but for whatever reason people cast actors who can't swim into roles where they will be tossed in the water. No one ever seems to ask during casting, "Can you swim? Can you drive a manual transmission?" and so on.

    The best film ever made

You guys are all thinking inside the box office. This is one of the "best" films I've ever seen, ranked as such because it does so much with so little: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0285979/ Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

lighting Time Lapse/Lights & Destroying the Environment

Though I never did the project, this is what I was going to do for a time lapse thing I had been planning in college. Round Up might work, although it is designed to not kill certain plants, so maybe not the best choice.

Test Yourself! Which is Which: BMPCC or GH3?

Nice job matching them aside from that though.

I might have a job on another feature film, but...

This. Hell, around here you can miss out on a job if it has been posted anywhere for 4 hours, much less 4 days. H44 - You should already have a resume on deck- a few actually since you cannot seem to find a focus - ready to go with little to no modification at a moment's notice. Do not use...

cinematography How to shoot this scene?

Certainly much simpler, it just sometimes helps to have an example. Was not sure how much camera movement you wanted during the frozen moment. I also wanted to make sure we were talking frozen still rather than extreme slo-mo. Remember that to sell the effect you'll have to manage your...

    lighting books about lighting

http://www.amazon.com/Cinematography-Screencraft-Peter-Ettedgui/dp/0240803825 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0127979/ Storaro probably talks more about the psychological effects of light and color than anyone else. He does have a series of books, but they hard to find at a reasonable price...

    Car mounts

Hostess Tray: Not a difficult thing to mimic with a DIY version for a lightweight camera. Neither of those are mine, though I do have one around. Needs some aks though.

cinematography How to shoot this scene?

Are you trying to move the camera around an object (objects) frozen in time? Like thusly? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5niaBQEpVQ Or are we just talking extreme slo-mo?

cinematography Will my actors care if my camera is garbage?

This. The sense of professionalism that the actors get from you should come from you, your approach to taking care of your cast and your crew, the way you run your set, your script, your attention to craft, etc. Conduct yourself as a professional and the camera you are using shouldn't matter...

Recommended RED Cameras - Low Budget

Don't spend 5 figures on a camera body unless you are intending to become a professional owner/operator of said camera. I suppose if you are starting a full-service type of production company, then maybe there is a case to be made as well. Sounds, based on your post, like you are doing neither...

    cinematography Death of the DSLR?

This. For example: From Cinelicious; original link: http://cinelicious.tv/news/future-of-the-red-camera Sensor size isn't the be-all-end-all of an image. If you like the "full frame" look for your project, then by all means go for it. But there are always going to be projects where the...
