Need tips for capturing solid audio in extreme conditions

Hello from the border... Update, on our clear weather days with light wind we will be building a library. Other good news on this front, but I can't stay long. Thanks for sticking through, and want to reiterate that what info could be provided beyond hiring has been very useful - general or...

Need tips for capturing solid audio in extreme conditions

Ape, The content of the actual answers was never the problem in the first place. The dismissive and insulting tone was. To be fair, it was never your posts that bothered me, but for some reason we are the ones discussing it. As verbose as I am it's surprising that I have been unable to make...

Need tips for capturing solid audio in extreme conditions

Update from the road: I have a designated assistant among the fuel boat crew that no one mention. <_< That gives me a great deal more capacity to focus on getting the best we can get. Ironically, I also learnedthat the season 1 audio with only their handycams was easier for post sound than the...

Need tips for capturing solid audio in extreme conditions

As much as I really don't want to derail this thread, I do want to explain myself a little more fully, because with all due respect to you both I disagree: it was a stock, and (imo) slightly disrespectful answer. An answer that was given without any consideration for the amount of time I have...

Need tips for capturing solid audio in extreme conditions

Sticking specifically to sound stuff: Lavs are new Sony's, iirc their g3 competitor, probably cheaper and lower quality. Boom is new, boom pole is ancient, no stands. NTG series, did not write down the #. 5D in the underwater housing won't wear a mic, but it will wear a VMP or similar for a...

Dangerous Waters, Season 3 will feature the cinematography stylings of yours truly!

Ok: Canon XF105 is the main camera, we have a backup for this, an older Xf100. Camera has grown on me, I'd spec it again for doc or similar work. We also have 2 5d mk3's. One will live in the underwater housing (ikelite) with either a tokina 11-16 (which I can only use at 16mm I didn't spec...

    Bullshit little baby

/thread. 0 interest in either the royal birth or the people who are mad that it is such a big hype machine. Mr. OP: Spend that energy telling the stories or documenting the events you believe should be told/documented.

You don't say? I am an 11th hour replacement hire for their previous cameraman who sustained an injury on another job. The firstquestion I asked (quite literally) was if there was a sound person. If they had answered yes, I would not have written this post. Gear package is fixed, see above...

Need tips for capturing solid audio in extreme conditions

Calling Alcove, APE, and all you other sound gurus out there! Mind taking a peek at what I am up to, and jotting down some of your thoughts? http://www.indietalk.com/showthread.php?p=330662#post330662 I could probably join and post on a more audio-centric site, and will be doing google...

Dangerous Waters, Season 3 will feature the cinematography stylings of yours truly!

Thanks Steve! Fortunately the show's creator is pretty on top of the social media thing. He's a former advertising guy who rode a jet ski for the first time a few years ago (dry suits out past the Golden Gate Bridge, hell of a first ride!) and got hooked, put together a group to do the first...

Call for ideas : how to dispose of a corpse

http://www.borderlandbeat.com/2013/04/el-pozolero-legacy-of-death-by-tijuanas.html Nothing new about his method, but wins the "WTF" award for this kind of thing if you ask me.

What are some techno thrillers shot for under $50K

Ok. Here's the thing. Reading your brief outline above, you could, in theory, make that movie for $5million or less. Too much less and you are running into some serious hurdles. Insurance, E/O, medic on set, weaponsmith, and other absolutely essential safety costs that you absolutely...

    Does this sound suspicious

Key words. Funding for those doesn't follow the same rules as for regular movies - even "indie" ones. This is because (and I hope I can state this without sparking a religious debate - full disclosure: I am not a Religious man, but I am a somewhat spiritual one - the capitalization...

Dangerous Waters, Season 3 will feature the cinematography stylings of yours truly!

Hi fine folks of IT! cinematography Is my director's camera technique a bad idea?

They aren't super difficult to hide, you just have to find the right transition point as the image changes and have a very smooth and consistent touch. It's just like pulling focus, it takes practice to make it invisible.
