    Screenplay Cat Skinning

    (a) sounds stilted, and doesn't really chime with how most people would visualise the scene - it implies the actions are strictly consecutive rather than (more likely) overlapping. (b) reads fine. (c) is OK, but in contrast to (a), implies concurrency when partial overlap is more likely. (d)...

Advice to deal with troublesome member of the public

I would guess any insurance claim would be against a particular driver, so has he given any indication of precisely whose car was involved? Is there any CCTV in the area? I suspect you're probably right, and he's just hoping you'll pay to fix what is more than likely the result of his kid's...

    character Revealing a Character's Name?

I find it hard to get behind that. If I were a producer reading a spec script I would hope for skilful storytelling, and skilful storytelling (whatever the format) frequently does require hiding things and misdirection.

Oh. So how did that user in the screenwriting forum manage it? Either that or I'm going mad, which is not beyond the realms of possibility.

Is there now a way to change username? I notice one user has changed username in the last day or so.

    Look at a Script

You'll probably get a better response if you post it up somewhere like Google docs and either share the link or request interested readers to PM you for it. I'm always happy to read scripts, but not to give my email address out! Whereabouts in the UK are you from, by the way?

Thanks for the x86 version. It still doesn't work on WinXP (but you probably know that). Also, when I try to start a "New from template" on Win10 x86, the whole program crashes completely. No idea why.

I think being able to embed images/multimedia into a 'card' would really be the ultimate advantage of a digital outliner as compared to a paper-based method. Ideally, I would like an outliner flexible enough to contain whatever data the user requires to aid visualisation, whether it be text...

I think what Quality is asking for is an "Insert image" button when editing the cards. Presumably the images would be created elsewhere (whether photos of locations, or line drawings or whatever) so no need for editing functionality. Images shown in thumbnail on the cards with a click showing...

Thoughts on John Truby's screenwriting structure.

I think if you're spending enough time with your antagonist so as to make them more interesting than the MC, then perhaps what you actually have is an antihero and a better candidate for MC? It certainly makes sense to put the most interesting character in the narrative spotlight.

Looks interesting, but why no version for Win32? It doesn't look like a particularly complicated set of operations to require a 64 bit processor!

Yeah, and it makes a lot of sense to use it in that instructional context to get the point across even if it isn't entirely true! :) http://mentalfloss.com/article/13103/russians-didnt-just-use-pencils-space

Thoughts on John Truby's screenwriting structure.

Whatever the solution, it needs to be something that is consistent with the story and universe, and ideally something that was mentioned well in advance of the point where it needs to be used (otherwise it becomes a deus ex machina). Like crossing the streams in Ghostbusters - that was...

Thoughts on John Truby's screenwriting structure.

I think the idea of treating it as a "hole" to climb out of is the wrong way of looking at it (I assume what you're talking about is the archtypal "all is lost" moment). If there is some detail the MC has been missing all along, and then suddenly he realises what it is, it won't require much...

Why You Don’t Always Need a Screenplay to Make a Great Film

I don't think I said they didn't have a narrative structure, as that is self-evident. What I said was that anything with a narrative structure more complex than a sketch is going to be difficult to achieve without a script. I'm sure there are people who could pull it off, but I don't think...

    logline Logline feedback

Is it really necessary to mention the specific disorder? I realise it's personal and important to you, but I'd query its place in a logline. I would argue if you have to Google part of a logline, it's not really doing its job! :)
