    Best of luck :)

How can I write a fight scene without it coming off as shock value only?

Everything that goes in the script and on the screen should develop either the plot or characters (or both) in some way. If it doesn't advance the plot, then a fight scene should reveal something new about a character's current state of mind (which can be in constant flux throughout a movie)...

They're a father and daughter? Wow. That possibility didn't even enter my mind.

    DETOURS feature poster

Well obviously. But I'm talking 'togetherness' thematically, not literally - and as you say it is perfectly possible to put together a composite that evokes that sense. This poster doesn't, for me. YMMV.

    DETOURS feature poster

It does look better smaller, but I think for me it's that it looks like they're not 'together' in any sense of the word (time, space, lighting) - just like two differently lit images plonked together. For me it's one of those things that once you see it, you can't unsee it. Maybe it's because...

Am I the only person who finds the lighting and composition a bit off? Something about it looks strange. Might just be my monitor though.

Is there any books on writing about police forensic technology?

If he has access to anything owned/used by the people he wants to frame then perhaps he can taint the untraceable gun with their DNA, and then dump the weapon somewhere logical (like a dumpster) where it might be found by CSIs (this is all Dexter stuff again :)) That way there is nothing...

    Politically-themed Movies

I think politics as an institution is probably better served by TV than movies (and it has been recently - The West Wing, Veep, House of Cards just for the US executive branch, for example). Any attempt to condense such labyrinthine machinations into two hours is going to cut a lot of corners...

Is there any books on writing about police forensic technology?

He's conducting a 'black op' tailing potential people of interest - it is actually far more plausible for him to go fully incognito (gloves, disguise, unregistered gun etc) in that context than for him to get involved in an impromptu shootout and then clean the scene scientifically. He's a cop...

    Another copyright question

As I've been thinking about this idea for years, I agree :) Done properly, it could be as iconic as the Wayne's World Bohemian Rhapsody scene, but completely silent :) What song are you planning to (not) use for that scene?

Is there any books on writing about police forensic technology?

Because if he finds himself carrying out an off-book operation that could get him in trouble if identified, and also potentially needs a weapon to carry out that operation, then if he's got any sense whatsoever, he would carry an untraceable firearm on that operation, not the one that leads...

    Introducing: Upbeat Drop!

Please do PM me the Vimeo link. London's still quite a way away... I'm not a musician by any stretch, but I have dabbled in 'composing' my own bits of music with sequencer software and electronic instruments etc. What you're describing does sound like a daunting task, so good luck with it :)...

Is there any books on writing about police forensic technology?

If he can conceivably gain access to the villain's car at some point, could he not retrieve another firearm from said car? As surely he'd be a complete idiot to carry his police-issue firearm during legally-questionable activities?

    Introducing: Upbeat Drop!

Amen to all that :) A lot of artistry is chutzpah and front, and you are evidently good at that :) I should probably have been clearer with my question, as I know what sequencing and arrangements etc. are (any music I produce these days is electronically with sequencer software!) My...

    Introducing: Upbeat Drop!

Oh, I see. What exactly do you mean by "sequencing the arrangements" in this context? And I am still slightly in awe of you, as I am of anyone with completely ironclad confidence in their own abilities :)

    Introducing: Upbeat Drop!

So are you writing all the songs too? I am in awe of you if so :) After trying my hand at songwriting and screenwriting, having to do both concurrently is a mindset I don't think I could occupy for a feature-length duration!

    Screenplay proofreading

If there are any clear and unambiguous errors (i.e. not matters of style or personal preference) remaining, I will work with the writer to get them fixed for free and to the writer's satisfaction. Even the very best professional proofreaders miss things (as you can tell by reading any...

    Screenplay proofreading

Would there be any interest on IT for a screenplay proofreading service? I've been a member here for a couple of years and given feedback on dozens of scripts. Even in the very best screenplays, simple spelling, punctuation and grammar problems are common. I have a bit of time on my hands right...
