    poster for shorts?

We make them for shorts. Digital and print copies both. Very useful for when you have a screening, plastering on the ol' social networks, a must for press kits, and used on the website (last use of poster on website for us: silenceofthebelle.com). I even used one poster during the promo video...

    Data Treatment / Storage

A.) I find it is a good habit to always pull the cards after shooting and dump them into your file management system and back them up to a HD or 4. Otherwise, if you are not in a location where you can bring your backups system, take cards out and put them in your storage cases for cards waiting...

editing Gun effects! Exploding drywall, glass, and tile.

You could meet it half way between practical and digital. Lock down the camera and shoot the actor(s) running, then film shooting the walls and composite.

Do we all really hate 3-D?

The last movie I saw that really made good use of 3d was the Muppet's 3D at Disney's Magical Kingdom. Also the 3d in Captain EO was gimmicky but worked.

    Reaction to suggestions

The thing to try and do is if you are not going to follow a suggestion, have a solid reason other than "Its my freaking movie and I want it my way." Open, honest, thoughtful dialogue is key to a good working environment. Letting people know why you do or don't do something goes a long way in...

What's a good online store for props?

when you vfx a knife, you usually don't do a fully computer generated knife. You go in and add shine and reflections to a real world prop. Lots of rotoscoping but can look cool. Also just cause a prop looks kinda fake in real life or a pic, doesn't mean it will look fake on video. Color...

what video games could make great movies?

I'd make Bubble Bobble. It would be a kids movie, but it could be fun, cute, and just wrong enough people would watch.

    editing magic bullet.. pretty lame

I don't use MB looks too processor intensive and everyone uses the presets. I typically use: MB Mojo (like looks but faster, cheaper, and no presets for people to use over and over, renders real time on older computers and works in premiere and AE) 3 way color corrector/vector scope Curves...

series Let's talk about a web series

I'm actually working on a web series with guys out of southern Indiana that is slated to release in January (Shameless plug: http://realityondemandseries.com) and another series (still under an NDA on that one for now) that will start filming next year. Working on this project and mingling with...

    This is how it's done...

Sorry for delay out of town for a spell. Choice of camera: Obviously budget is the biggest factor. Beyond that you need to pick a camera that best handles the subject matter as some cameras do better with action than others. For instance DSLR's and the rolling shutter can make some fx shots and...

Reasons why your talent or crew would not respect you?

As Alcove said, you respect them they will respect you. Also having confidence (but not cockiness) will go a long way in people listing to and respecting you. If you act like you are unsure of your decisions or don't know what you doing, their confidence and respect in you will dwindle.

When the talent isn't performing it like you need it, how early do you say "Cut." ??

Hopefully you will have worked out most of the acting during rehearsals and table reads. On set we usually do a practice take before we roll (or sometimes even roll on it just for reference or potential bloopery goodness) which allows for making adjustments with the actors before shooting...

    Breaking Amazing

Also remember that Twilight isn't just a movie. It is a full on brand with deep market penetration. The money the latest film is making is based on years and years of building a large loyal fan base.

    This is how it's done...

In pre-production you must know what your post house can and can't do before you shoot. When planning shots you may want to gather your stock video or plan to shoot your b-roll footage first. knowing what you are going to put in the background and having that organized and/or shot (or at least...

    Legal Question

Or better yet the guy (mercenary instead of bounty hunter) is hired to kidnap the guy but screws up and kidnaps some look-a-like then you have the merc having to deal with getting wrong guy and then the poor kid who just happens to look like justin trapped on an island.

    cliche movie posters

There are only so many ways to lay out a poster, and when you have to churn out a dozen or so posters week, there are going to be some similarities among the odd 2000 or so movies released each year (World wide).
