    Production Diary: Penguins

I'm shocked at the lack of feedback here thus far.

EVERYTHING I've EVER wanted in a movie!

As others have said, look at breaking your ideas into several movies. Alternativly, you might want to consider that a film is the wrong medium for your ideas. Perhaps your idea is better suited for a mini-series, tv show, novel, comic, etc. It might be better told in a longer format.

Who to bring on during development?

Depending on what part of Vermont you and or crew are from, you might be able to utilize equipment from VCAM. That could save you some cash. As far as who to bring on, I think you got it covered. If you are looking to add any "name" crew (like the dp from this movie or the art guy from that...

    Post shoot blues

People above have given some good advice. Moving forward, look at what you did right and achieved. Focus on the positive and look to make the most out of what went to crap. You will never get what you imagine or what from a film. I'm current project is animated. I'm creating it frame by frame...

    Production Diary: Penguins

Thank you. Those are screen caps from the low res test files. Been a bit busy with moving and such so haven't had much time to refine the second installment. I did manage to make some tweaks and animated two new shots. One a close up of a face and the other a penguin poping its head out of an...

    DVD compression issues

You are kinda right in that it is compressed in the wrong frame rate. I will assume you are making a dvd for region 1. Region 1 DVDs are typically 29.97 ntsc. It would be my guess that the video is speeding up because it is trying to play back the file at 29.97 but it is encoded at 23.9. That...

    Funding a film

Have you tried selling sweaters to the little blue penguins along the southern coast? Those little guys love sweaters.

    Production Diary: Penguins

Today was a hectic day, but I managed to do the rough cut, and to render out the final video files for the project. There were a few snags along the way. An After effects plug in issues made exporting one of the videos very tedious as AE kept crashing (and in the process somehow ate a comp). I...

    VFX Fake Windows

Keep the light on the green screen consistant. You can add markers if you want. Adjust the shutter speed of the camera so you have less motion blur. This should make the key easier if people or objects are moving in front of the camera. If the window is going to be a light source in the...

    Production Diary: Penguins

Sleep eludes me as the penguins invade my dreams. I was affraid Iwas begining to see penguins that were not there. When I got home today I thought I was halucenating a penguin on my desktop only to realize I had changed my desktop. Here is a link to the desktop if anyone wants it: Today...

archived-videos Vitamin Time - Thoughts on Short Comedy??

It was very dry, but not a good kind of dry like vermouth or BlackAdder. The only part I really found humorous was the mustache bit. Pacing was slow, and it seemed like the bulk of the video was the dad's head shot. Would have been nice to see more coverage. Maybe show the kid reacting and...

archived-videos Critique on my latest video !!!! Best as an amateur

I really like the colors and variety of shots and the fast pace. It reminds me of something you would see playing on screen in a club. Good Job!

how do I find people for my project?

You might want to try posting something on http://www.newenglandfilm.com/classifieds/index.htm or http://www.craigslist.org/ Both are free to post. You may also want to try putting up a flyer at a local university. Especially one that offers any kind of relevent courses. You could search for...

    Production Diary: Penguins

That said, I had such positive response from friends and family on the music free version, that I was asked to make more penguins and to potentially cross over the penguins with a friend's webseries. -remember to scrub your penguins So I did. I just finished principal animation on the second...

    Production Diary: Penguins

Figured I would share my current project with the group. I'm currently working on a 2d animated short titled “Penguins.” The first installment is titled “The Flower.” It comes in with credits and production company vanity plate at exactly 4 minutes 5 seconds. Considering I also animated the...

How to storyboard when I can't even draw a straight line

Here are a few tips I've picked up along the years. Some you may find helpful some you may find to be steaming skunk excrement (I have not spell checked this post so may the penguins in my keyboard have mercy on you): You can use simple shapes such as circles, rectangles, etc. to represent...
