If it were me I'd probably do something that focuses on the guy in his dismal apartment writing a song for the girl to sing. He would narrate his thoughts about her as he works, memories of meeting and interacting with her and so forth. I would have his memories of her be along the lines of...

I'm a creative person by nature (so they say), and I've always been drawn to visual storytelling devices. I tend to keep myself busy writing short fiction, reviews, novels, poetry and the like, but I have the most fun writing film scripts, and that's ultimately where I want to go as a writer.

I wouldn't be against using a secondary idea for something like this, but I would be mighty nervous indeed pinning all my hopes on that one great story I want to see make it in the world. That's just me.

I never let that bother me. If I have an idea worth exploring then I explore it and assume my voice as a writer will at least allow the idea to be unique in that way. Generally the assumption is a safe one.

That's excellent advice. I would have a lot of fun with facial expressions and body language. A good actor can accomplish so much those things and never have to say a word.

No courses, no degrees. At least that's how it is in my case. I often wonder if that's holding me back. I do still hope to take filmmaking courses when I finally get some other things sorted.
