screenplay Poor person's distribution of a script.

I agree. When I'm writing a spec, every DAY I work on it? I save it with the same title but I always add the actual DATE to the end of the filename. This way... Should you ever need it? You can show the progress of writing the actual script from BEGINNING to END. I bookmarked this article a...

screenplay Poor person's distribution of a script.

All TRUE but? When it comes to the legal profession? The ONLY way to LEGALLY PROVE you wrote an original screenplay is to register it with the U.S. Copyright Office. Without it? You cannot prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are the one that wrote it.

screenplay Poor person's distribution of a script.

Just another recommendation when it comes to COPYRIGHT. Don't skimp on it. The poor man's copyright is sealing the spec in an envelope and mailing it either to yourself or someone else but this doesn't work. All an attorney would need to say in order to render your poor man's copyright...

screenplay Poor person's distribution of a script.

Good question... Difficult answer... LOL. Basically? You can't query agents. Well, you can but I cannot think of a single agency that would read an email or snail mail query. Everyone is worried about lawsuits these days so agencies (unless you get real lucky) are out. Next are management...

Uh... No. Not saying that at all. LOL. If you want me to take a look at your latest version however? Always happy to do so.

screenplay Money for nothing... and your script for free

LOL. Naaah. I figured you had more than enough opinions to work with in that thread. I'll be honest... I've NOT written a ton of shorts in my life. I started out writing features and although I've read a LOT about making shorts and writing short scripts? I'm not nearly as competent with THEM as...

Jesus... I rarely agree with anyone when it comes to POLITICS but again... Jesus... It's POLITICS. Who cares? I don't even know what the post had in it. I just can't help getting involved because of the guy's MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY I AM ALWAYS RIGHT AND IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH ME YOU'RE AN...

After reading Indietalk for about 2 years, it's time to join & participate.

Have you ever considered writing your story as a book? Not that you should or that I recommend it. Often, if a story is actually worth writing, it's worth writing as both and I do believe writing it as a book might allow you to get EVERYTHING DOWN. Almost like a first draft of a spec script...

screenplay Reverse Engineering scripts - Why are only 'Intellectuals' (that isn't a bad thing) doing it when I search YT?

I don't consider myself a nerd by any stretch of the imagination but I've reverse engineered HUNDREDS of screenplays over the years... If I had to point out ONE thing in particular that got me sales of spec screenplays? I'd say it was because I reverse engineered screenplays that were...

    screenplay Santa's Apperance

I say, GO FOR IT if you feel it's best for the Story. Take a look at Netflix's Christmas Chronicles with Kurt Russell. Now of course, he's still pretty much wearing the same colors as the Santa we're all used to but he sure doesn't look like the Santa we're used to. I think if done correctly and...

misc How do writers go about researching material to flesh out their characters?

Let's also not forget that although brilliant as an agent-in-training? Clarice Starling is no super-agent. LOL. They show you that in the beginning in one of her training exercises where she fails to check a corner of the room and the instructor tells her she's DEAD. Out on her own? Out in the...

misc How do writers go about researching material to flesh out their characters?

Don't get me wrong... Loved the movie but the book was BETTER. It pretty much happens the same way in the book but what you do NOT get in the movie are all the things going through Jame Gumb's MIND as he observes Clarice stumbling around in the dark. In that instant, he's obsessed with...
