movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

I think a lot of people feel that way about it. Disney has a money machine on their hands, and they are just testing the limits of how far they can exploit their good fortune. I can't hold it against them, since I'd be doing the same thing in their position. For example, some of the Star...

It's difficult to disagree with that.

This is the kind of behavior that used to get me fired from a lot of bands in the 90s. It starts about 35 seconds in.

    Anne Heche - RIP - 53

To be fair, it's not unheard of for a single relationship to end up wrecking someone's entire life. I know more than a few people that were never quite the same after X happened. She always seemed like a pretty cool person. I think it's pretty hard on mid listers, spending their whole lives...

    Hello

Welcome! I think there is actually a guy here who works with a prop house, so you might want to chat with him. I think his screen name is "documentary label"

True, some upkeep does help. I can't help but think (after this weeks Batman marathon) that Batman probably wouldn't be a thing anymore if they didn't reboot it every 5 years. I do like Batman though, maybe because it was a big part of childhood. It is truly iconic in a way not many things...

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

lol, yes.... I was extra disappointed, because I'm a big fan of Pedro Pascal. Narcos was just an amazing show, and I've been a fan ever since. He was good in GOT, but Narcos was his strongest work so far.

I think some of it also has to do with creative saturation. You can only invent the wheel once. There's people who then invented the car, and that was iconic, but 50 years later, the smartest automotive engineer in the world is just streamlining the door handles, and that doesn't stick in...

lol, ok, that's even worse, that's 2 brain skips in 10 minutes. I am so screwed.

It does really feel like the cycles are accelerating though. We're now seeing things become globally famous one year, and then are completely forgotten 3 years later. I don't think that happened so much in the 50s. It's digit span I think. The amount of faces, events, archetypes we remember...

did you add that in afterwards, or did my eyes just skip over the words Nick Cage completely? I'm actually really sick today, and haven't been able to sleep in a while. It's not covid, but whatever it is has just an entire orchestra of symptoms. ok, yeah, I can see that it was never edited...

Even in a role, he always came off as the kind of person that would be really nice in real life. It's really impressive that your work attracted a legendary actor of this caliber. Sorry to see him go, definitely one of a kind.

Ok, fine, I'll stop animating cats flying through zero gravity and talk serious lit for a second. I recommend - The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann. It's a philosophical novel where the inmates of a TB asylum discuss their perceptions of the meaning of life, personal struggles, and expired...

Ok, pretty basic cinematography stuff, but hey, this is an article that's actually about filmmaking. Good Job Indiewire!

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

It feels like this thread should be back in the headlines, since so many new movies have been released lately. I can't do all of these, so I'm going to do a few Elvis - Pretty great editing in this. They manage to tell the story in a way that covers a lot of ground while keeping the pace up...

When a banal event falls into the past, indiewire is there to catch it. Like a milquetoast Rick Sanchez, scouring the continuum for minor incidents to report on. As a huge fan of this written version of elevator music, I can only hope that the glassy eyed social media parrots over there can...

series What series are you watching?

Ok, I watched the first half of "The Bear", because Mara's recommendations are typically good. I can't quite wrap my head around this one. Perhaps there is some brilliant allegory I'm missing, or maybe I just need to watch the rest of the show. So far, what I'm seeing is A: a tribute to...

What are you listening to right NOW!

Just stumbled across this yesterday. This guy is averaging 50 views per video over a decade. It's kind of amazing how good you can be at something these days, and still be completely unknown. When I was a kid, if someone could play a power chord twice in a row, they bought them a gulfstream...
