Hello Indietalk

Hello!
I'm coming here from watching Daniel James on twitch. He said I should join a message board, so now I did :woohoo: I'm a self taught composer who has been creating music for the last 5 years and is now trying to "break" into the filmmaking industry and maybe start composing for films. I was searching around for websites which looked the best. And I liked this the most, so here I am. Hello everyone one on Indietalk! :hi: How is everybody doing?

Welcome! I am also self-taught . Which doesn't mean I know a lot! Tell us more about your music. What are you using? What kind of music do you like doing? Influences?

Well, I create Epic Orchestral music, And I like to think melodies and harmonies is what makes music enjoyable to listen to. So that is what I try to focus on. I have also been into composing some ambient music lately. I mostly use FL Studio for recording and REAPER for mixing. I use East West libraries, many plugins from Soundiron and a lot of others.

Epic orchestra is very cool. Do you have any examples? My primary focus is chords and harmonies. I certainly use drone beds when they are called for, but I like to hammer people with themes. I tend to mix a lot of industrial type sounds with the orchestral sounds, like THIS Example for a holiday horror comedy. The tone shifts from a dark setting, to a ridiculous character, then to the killer confronting him.

I've been meaning to get Reaper (I'm still using hardware).. I've heard good things about it, and the price is right. I have one Soundiron title. They make some cool vocal libraries. East West has some awesome stuff, as well.

Yes of course I have examples, This is one of my latest track. I kinda follow the trailer music template. So it slowly builds up to the "drop". Sounds like you are into the hybrid theme  I like them, but many of them only uses chords as their melody, which creates repetitiveness and becomes boring to listen to. I like your atmosphere in the example you gave me. It has very nice eerie feeling to it.

You should. It's as you said the price is right. Only 60$ for the discounted. You can even use that for commercial work if you don't make more than 20,000 per year. Soundiron is one my favorite virtual instrument makers. They're so underrated in my opinion.

Nice. I could see that being the score for an OCTOBER SKY type of movie. Wow, you have a lot of tracks. I enjoyed Undefeated, Collide, and For The King. You have some great sounds.

Thanks for checking it out.
Thank you. If you want to learn you have to make a lot, That is why I have so many.
