    When you work for free on a movie either as an Actor or Grip ... you are essentially "paying" ... this is just upping the ante. It wont become a widespread phenomena in Indie filmmaking. If you have any extra dough ... just make your own film.

    Quote them a price to do the film on 35mm ... and a price to do it HD. Tell them that the success of the film will depend on the script and the actors.

    What annoying look are you talking about ... I think we will grow to love "superior" depth of field ... and "films" that don't deteriorate over time. And, it will be nice to get rid of that jittery 24fps frame rate.

    Yes you indeed have to help the director as much as possible ... it will also help the location scout find a location ... there is more chance the film will stay true to your original concept ... the more detail you provide.
