Excellent, thanks! 😎 Btw, I just found a service manual online of the 990 model with parts #'s and complete disassembly - very interesting! (Right-click and open images in new tab for full resolution)
Oh, I think I understand, thank you. Yeah, I suppose I can still try it, I mean since I need to buy 2 of them anyway for using directly into the camera. What about using one of those cheap non-transformer 1/4 to XLR adapters? Is that more likely to cause less problems with that setup or worse...
Oh. Yeah. Oops, haha. Maybe i'll do better now that i've rested.
Hosa YMP-137 Dual Stereo adapter from mic into Beachktek Stereo input, 1/4 to 1/8 stereo cable (1/8 end into Beachtek Out), 1/4 end into Hosa MIT-129 Impedance Transformer, Hosa transformer XLR end into camera XLR port. (?)...
Al, another question if you don't mind.. should the "R" XLR plug on the Beachtek work with one of these cables 3-Pin XLR Male to Male mic Cable DMX Cable Patch Cords with Oxygen-Free Copper out to the XLR input on the camera? Just trying to picture all of this in my head. (So microphone 1/4 with...
Nukie (1987). Yeah sure there's worse titles than this, but I guess you could say that this one's personal. Way back when I was probably 10-12 years old, I don't remember exactly.. anyway, that's not important. The day I was at the VHS rental store, I chose this. Overnight, I went into some kind...
Hey, I was tired when I made the original post, cripes!
I found a couple pictures with what appears to be a dual XLR cable, so I guess that it was possible, at least at one point. I wonder if in doing so, that the original cable connector was "sacrificed" for the conversion.
Thank you...
Sorry about that, I forgot to mention that the microphone is Sony ECM-990F. Ex: https://www.ebay.com/itm/395383967194
There's a 990 and a 990F model. The 990 has 600 impedance, no battery light and the 990F has 200 impedance and has a battery indicator. I suppose the F is the later model, then...
Thanks, these look like they should work! Now to find a complete, working mic with that stereo cable.. 😎
But if someone knows what that old Sony connector is, please let me know. I'm very curious about that.
Thank you but i'm thinking that will not work. I've found a bit more info and it seems the mic uses a special connector type. I wonder about an adapter to convert the two 1/4 stereo plugs to one 3.5mm plug? I haven't been able to find one online yet.
I'm just browsing for potential buys online - can anyone identify this connector? It sort of looks like XLR, but I don't know, the image isn't very good quality. Also, there's another cable with dual 1/4 stereo connectors (left/right channels). I believe this cable was used to for tape decks of...
Great, thank you! Yes, i'll probably be staying away from any boards myself. I used to do this with others but they've since moved away and i'm just recently getting back into all of this on my own after about 15 years. I want to at least be competent with on-camera audio and find an audio...
This isn't a 'net' story, but I feel it will fit here. Going on about 2 or so months ago on an episode of 'CBS Mornings', I believe it was Gayle King going over a story of a baby hippo being born. As the picture was on the screen, hosts Gayle and Tony we're all like "Aww, cute! So cute!" etc...
I mean for general live events (concerts, stage plays. etc. not movie work). I was thinking it couldn't hurt to have a wide stereo xy or ms field in addition to shotgun directional audio and doing a light mix with the two tracks.
Edit: Thank you on the tip about matrixing.
