Part 1 When you say "compress" do you mean transcode? As in convert the clips that came out of your 5D (h.264) to ProRes 422? You can theoretically drop h.264 clips into final cut but its a nightmare to edit. Definitely transcode to ProRes using Compressor first before you import your clips...

So i just got an OWLE Bubo for my iPhone 4 and have been taking a lot of video lately that I wanted to start editing. I've figured out that I needed to transcode the H.264 video the iPhone 4 produces to something edit-friendly like ProRes 442. I've done this in Compressor and its all gone fine...

yeah i was looking for like less than half those prices then put the 35mm on there and it would be decent...originally i had planned to get something more expensive than that but i just cant seem to save that kind of dough without something coming up and foiling my saving plans...sick of...

how exactly do you go about converting the footage if you wanted to use it in final cut pro? when you connect the camera to your computer does the hard drive come up on the desktop like any other external hard drive would or something like that? thanks

it say color is like 120mb or soemthing so i dont see the point leaving it out... im just going to install motion and sountrack pro without extras....then hopefully order a decent external drive and install it on that when i get it...shouldnt have any issues right? just pop the disk back in...

well, i got my student discount pricing on final cut studio 2 today and its pretty sweet looking (and heavy!) and i went to install it on my MBP (120gb hd) and there is not enough room to install all the stuff...? its like 59GB or something...i have like 47 available...is it wise to not install...
