    My trip to the USA

Hi everybody, I AM BACK. I know I have been absent for a while. I have worked on my final dissertation for my MA in Modern Philology until the mid of November, and finally, I took the degree on November 12th with the highest grades and honor. I am starting this thread because I decided to...

Beginner screenwriters: LA or in NYC?

Thanks for your answers, guys. It seems to me that sfoster and TheZoller have seen my point ;) As long as you're writing, you can do it everywhere. But you can't take part in on-site job interviews or meet other writers, filmmakers, and producers if you're sailing to the Hawaiian Islands ;)

Beginner screenwriters: LA or in NYC?

Hi everybody, Which is the ideal place to start a career as a screenwriter: LA or NYC? Putting job opportunities apart, which I assume should be many more in LA, which is the city that offers more "collateral opportunities"? Let me explain. As far as I know, starting a career as a...

    Looking for some feedback

Hi Rik, My notes/comments on your script: - FADE IN: -> You must put it at the beginning. - Is the soundtrack necessary to your story? You are not supposed to insert soundtracks. - Unfamiliar COUGHING and FOOTSTEPS from downstairs (try to be more concise, it's not prose). - I would remove...

Three voice messages - How do they sound?

I forgot to mention that it's a short film, so there's not too much space for her backstory/family life.

New script (Update) --------------------UPDATE -> Scroll down Hi everyone, Some days ago I said I was going to start a new project. "indietalk" helped me to find a good logline for my script here. I have already written the synopsis. I'd like you to give some comments about these three brief...

Voiceover - Is it ever a good idea?

As WalterB said, Voice Over works when it works. Have you watched Adaptation by Spike Jonze and written by Charlie Kaufman? Voice over is a key feature of that film, and it is beautifully written. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0268126/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Lost in translation - A letter of presentation by a non-native writer.

There's a huge debate about storytelling structures and I don't think this is the proper place to talk about it. However, I partially agree with you. A good story makes a great screenplay. :) I have seen your reply! Thanks ;)

Lost in translation - A letter of presentation by a non-native writer.

I have recently attended an academic seminar about contemporary productions in Italy. Most filmmakers work as indies since there's not an actual industrial sector, and most of them are facing hard times. I don't want to martyr myself. Working in an international context could give me hundreds of...
