    Outdoor cinematography

Yes, your images are beautiful! Besides using a tripod or slider, have you ever looked into using polarizers? If not, they're just screw on filters for the front of your lens and it can add some vibrance, especially in scenes involving water or anything that could cause glare. You can find them...

How to light a BLUE scene

I'm shooting a film for a director who wants a room lit as if a blue light hanging from the ceiling is the only light source in the room. Without buying blue lights to test them, I'm trying to determine if a few 90 watt blue lights can even possibly give me enough light, or if I'm better off...

    Multiple FCP X exports...

Just wondering if exporting a file in final cut (or any program) will degrade the quality of the file. I have been exporting as .mov and only do this because my computer tends to get gummed up by too many projects in final cut...so...i normally export and delete after finishing a scene, and...

    Why do you make films?

I really love putting films together...I guess that's how I think of the process...it's like a material thing...perfect a shot, know where and how it fits in...sort of like working a puzzle...i find that whether i'm on a set with a budget or just f'ing around in the living room with clamp lights...

Your favourite 'Behind The Scenes' documentary

James Franco's "Saturday Night" is pretty cool...it's a week behind the scenes of a saturday night live episode that john malkovich hosted...really funny and good :)

file compression - final cut pro

I am fairly new to final cut pro and when I finalized a project the other day (about 15 min) in HI RES (4444 I think) the final file came out to about 20 GB. Needless to say, I had to compress. I am getting ready to make a short film with a running time of about 30 min and I would like to know...

    wide-angle lens

I'm looking to rent a wide-angle lens for the digital EOS I'm using to make my next short, but I've seen a lot of different "wide-angle lenses" with both .7 magnification and .8 magnification. I don't want any sort of fish eye look, just wondering what kind of lens I need to be getting that will...

    Wide Angle Converter

I've been looking into getting a Canon WD-H58W .7x wide angle converter for my Vixia HF G10 because it seems that I can't actually put a different lens on the camera. Does this just seem like a work-around? Would I be better off getting a camera I can put an actual wide angle lens on? Thoughts?

    camera??

yeah, my brother is an audio engineer so he's going to use a shotgun mike to record everything to his mac and then we're going to lay it all down during editing.

    camera??

lately, i've been looking into getting a high-end camera, such as the Canon XH A1S. can someone make a recommendation within the $4,000-6,000 price range?
