    You should look up the song on either ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC. One of those will most likely have the song registered. Then contact them and let them know you want to use the song. Best of luck!

    Yeah, there are plenty of options these days, which is great. But, like mentioned above, you get what you pay for, so beware the freebies.

    You should check with the PROs (performing rights organizations), ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC type in the name of the song and artist and it's bound to pop up for one of them. Then contact the respective PRO. Even if you get someone else to record the song, you don't have to claim the master...
