Check out the centerforsocialmedia.org and download the report on "Fair Use" it's pretty in depth and will tell you what you need to know to stay legal.
In most cases it's best to steer clear of copywritten material.
Hope this helps.
Clive I gotta say that ten years is really nothing in the film industry. I've been doing this for thirteen years and still haven't gotten my big break. If filmmaking was easy I think everyone would do it. Part of the fun of making it and getting to the point where you can live off your love...
I think wattersk filled in all the things I left out. Good conversation here.
I think one of the biggest things that separates good short films from bad ones is the casting and acting.
Casting and acting are deffinitely battles that filmmakers will always face. It's hard becasue you want...
So I watched your movie and it has potential to be good.
The Acting is a little ackward at times. The female cop rushes through her lines like she's nevervous and it seems like the cop with the mustache in particular is reading his lines from a cue card.
I liked the lighting but you need...

Just watched Pee Wee's big adventure a little while ago. It's soo bad and overly cheesy at times, it's great. Thank you Tim Burton for that one.
Okay so I watched it and had no problems seeing it until a little more than half way through when quentin starts talking about his new project. It starts freezing up and doesn't work. It's okay up to that point. I agree that uploading again would probably solve the problem. I would try to...
I'm on my 7th LaCie drive and they have worked really well. I wouldn't suggest the porche designed ones though they are kind of shoty. I've had to send one of those back to be refurbished or whatever it is they do there. The first FW drive I bought three years ago and I still use it for...
Generally investors invest because they want to make money on their investment, that's what they do for a living and I'm pretty sure that the money they put in they will want back at some point with interest. They are a business for a reason. Putting a business plan together is a great idea...
we shot 24p 2:3:3:2 and edited on a 24 frame timeline. I like the results. We also used the factory standard lens that came with it. We got really lucky with focus pulls, which is a huge downfall of the lens system. We also wanted to use a smoke machine for the entire shoot except for the...
I think too much and not enough has already been said. This whole thing sucks. Shawn and Dylan are not one in the same but it's funny that you guys would think that. It's also impressive that you think we would stoop to a level of talking crap about your film in order to get more votes for...
Way too many varriables to give you a reasonable reply. There are just somethings you can't plan for.
Just a thought though, you may want to finish your script before you start pre-production.
You should always grab a freeze frame by previewing to a broadcast monitor. You will get the cleanest sharpest picture that way becasue you can actually go frame to frame and see which one stays steady. You won't have to de-intelace this way. Previewing on a computer monitor will not show you...
