    sound advice

Definitely recommend a convolution reverb plug in like Altiverb or Space Designer. Combine that with some hi cut EQ and you should be convincing.

Where can I obtain suspenseful music for free?

Well he said he only needed it for some atmos/jump cues, and he didn't want to pay. It's actually a really good option for people who know what they want in terms of classic cinema FX. I also agree with SQComposer... find a college or music school where they teach composition. There's loads of...

Where can I obtain suspenseful music for free?

If you have a Mac with a copy of Garage Band on it, you can probably knock something decent up yourself... if it's just layers of atmosphere with a jump cue at the end, easy as pie.

should i use or create new music for film?

... and just to add to what everyone else has said (cos I agree completely), IF you DO decide to nick some music that was written for a different film, you should steer clear of blockbuster soundtracks. Everyone knows the Dark Knight music and people are bound to recognize it which will...

    HOW IMPORTANT IS ...

Anyone seen that French film "Hidden"? It leaves you hanging, and even throws a massive clue at you during the closing credits which cause you to question everything you had presumed before. I loved it, cos it got me thinking and the people I saw it with - we all sat around for hours afterwards...

Ok - I'll bite! I had a listen to a few and here's some thoughts. Torch - had some really nice interesting musical ideas - riffs, melodies, chord changes, structure.
